YUTA KINOSHITA(22) と RYOSUKE KIMURA(22) によるニュージェネレーションエレクトロユニット。二人の出会いが高校のE組であり、互いの音楽の原点が、YUTAがバイオリン、RYOSUKEがピアノとクラシックであることから2007年「Class e cal」が生まれる。パソコンの打ち込みによる多種多様なドラムリズムに合わせ、2台のシンセサイザーを同時に演奏する事により他に類を見ない新たなグルーブ感を生み出し、独自のダンスミュージックを形成している。また、記憶にも新しいMIXCD「KitsuneUdon/Kitsune + Osawa Shinichi」にも収録され、日本国内はもとより世界中のダンスフロアでキラースピンされている「Dangerseekers」を生み落とした張本人である"Kap10Kurt"が2008年5月にClass e calの代表曲"X"のRemixを行い注目を集めている。

A new generation electronic unit by YUTA KINOSHITA(22) and RYOSUKE KIMURA(22). Because violin, Ryosuke are classic with a piano Yuta the origin of each other's music, "class e cal" is born in 2007. But if you look closely at the Japanese text you’ll notice that they mentioned ‘Kitsune’ & ‘Shinichi Osawa’ – what I gathered & have concluded is:

• They are 2 Guys from Japan.
• They started the ‘Class E Cal’ project in 2007.
• They can play the Violin & Piano (Neither played on their tracks?????)
• They ram their productions with Drum Machine pre-set beats.
• They play 2 synthesizers at the same time to achieve a special groove.
• They released an awesome EP this year titled ‘X’.
• The main track is titled ‘X’ & it’s awesome.
• The awesome ‘X’ is remixed by the awesome ‘Kap10Kurt’.
• The awesome ‘Kap10Kurt’ remix massacres the original.
• It’s for the Synth Gen. (SymbolOne/Danger/Kavinsky).
• It’s not similar to the styles of the people mentioned above.
• It’s one of the awesomest to-be-played-loud trance-influenced synth tracks I’ve heard a while.

Two new tracks appeared on KAP10KURT MySpace player,'Mission Complete' is being properly mixed and will be released as a 12" with remixes by Tepr, Dolby Anol, Moulinex and Ocelot - 'Wasabi Warrior' will be after that probably. KAP10KURT has recently remixed Ocelot's "Our Time" and a Dolby Anol track - currently remixing Grafton Primary.

Coldplay are giving away a brand new track 'Death Will Never Conquer' as a free download to celebrate the start of their tour - here.

Amy Winehouse, Razorlight and Bloc Party are set to feature in a new online soap 'The Secret World Of Sam King' following the trials of a teenager working in Universal Record's postroom who sets up his own office at the back of a stationary cupboardwill - it will also feature guest appearances from Duffy, Girls Aloud and The Feeling.

Duffy is almost certain to be chosen to sing the theme song for the forthcoming new 'James Bond' film 'Quantum Of Solace', according to reports.

"(Britney Spears) is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album," her label, Jive Records, and her manager said in a statement to the Associated Press - "She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we're very excited about what she's accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet," they said.

Feist has re-recorded her global hit single '1234' and filmed a new video for it – with The Muppets. The singer is set to appear on an episode of 'Sesame Street', due to air in the US in August, and has recreated her acrobatic, Olympic-inspired video with the puppets. Lily Allen has released a brand new track online that she admits won't feature on her second album because she's "ripped off" Take That. 'Who'd Of Known' is being streamed on MySpace. Writing on her blog, Allen explained: "I have put up a song that won't make it on the album. I ripped off the chorus from Take That and I can't be bothered with the paperwork."

Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford has revealed that he has been signed up to work on Arctic Monkeys' forthcoming third album "It's much more psychedelic than the first album (2006's 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'). I wouldn't rule out a bit of R'n'B either – the boys know their stuff." .

Jarvis Cocker has revealed that his second solo album will be much heavier than his debut, 2006's 'Jarvis'. The singer is expected to hit the studio this year, but claimed his album will likely not be released until 2009.

Pete Doherty has announced that he will complete the recording of his debut solo album this month and release it later this year. He will travel to an undisclosed European studio this month with producer Jake Fior to finish the album, which is now over half complete. Songs set to feature on the album include 'Darksome Sea', 'Salome', 'Broken Love Song' and 'Withdrawn And Shaken'.

MSTRKRFT's as-yet-untitled second album, is due Oct. 7 via Dim Mak - although MSTRKRFT has largely avoided doing remixes while working on the upcoming album, the duo just finished a version of John Legend's "Green Light" featuring OutKast's Andre 3000. The track is the first single from Legend's next album, due in September via G.O.O.D. Music/Columbia.

Experimental rock act Deerhoof returns this fall with its ninth album, "Offend Maggie" due Oct. 7 via Kill Rock Stars.

WTF, Grafton Primay are releasing an album in 9 days!?

I kinda forgot about them after the hype over their EP was over, I just checked their MySpace a few minutes ago after listening to the amazing better-than-original Kap10Kurt remix of the new single 'She Knows It' and there it was, an announcement saying 'album out Sept 13th' - the album is titled EON - “It's an album we produced ourselves and there are a lot of live sounds on the album but it’s a real exploration of electronic sounds. We’ve really pushed the synthesiser sounds; we’ve pushed the spaces, the echoes. The actual mixing [of] the album is part of the music, but we’ve tried to give it a real human feel with the electronic sounds. It’s not like lots of blops and bleeps; it’s quite warm, a rich texture. Electronic sounds can be very beautiful and have their own character about them.”!

Sometimes I wonder if BURNS is a remixing robot invented by Linus Loves in his secret 12:12 labs!? The dude just made acquaintance with the public less than a year ago & already remixed Buy Now, Wiley, Late Of The Pier, Bucketheads, Empire Of The Sun, Linus Loves, Filthy Dukes, Yuksek and I even heard he's busy remixing Gossip's Heavy Cross (I hope it's true)! Sinister dominates his vibe and occasionally his reworks sound like the ego of the Decepticons, mettalic, sharp and shiny like his Prom Night remix, but whether it's deephouse, electro, bassline or pop methods he sports, BURNS makes he owns it.

Punks Jump Up been remixing blog-Pop folks for so long that I accepted them as remixers rather than the band, but that's only me because they've been on the road throwing a successful gig after another for years, making punks jump up at the scene.. something I yet yearnt o experience. They almost played a gig here in Bahrain few months ago, which would've been the first indie band in history toplay on this island but unfortunately it got canceled last minute *rants*.

This is a band that like sot match it's paint war energy with it's visual aesthetics, keeping kids decorated in Kate Morross designed apparel and adding records to our collection with sleeves rad enough to be framed and hanged on the wall.

I wouldn't mind really if the english/swedish duo decided to infinitely remix & gig while occasionally (rarely) throw an original through a compilation (Kitsune Maison) or release a limited physical single through a third party label as long as they're active. Good news is they are finally working on their debut album & guess who's on the guest list? Le Tigre's JD Samson side project MEN! YESSS!

I'm still convinced about the importance of a live The Presets CD/DVD existence in the universe, ever since the first goosebump that Coachella performance of Are You The One? induced - I think it's time to start a petition or write fake suicide threat emails to Modular.

Who wouldn't want to see one of their favorite bands performing sinister versions of their songs? Better check their tour schedule, their live show is something not to be missed.

A little spontaneous feature I wrote on Tiga's CIAO! now published in Germany's PUR Magazine, May 09 Issue. Click on the preview photo above to see it in higher resolution, it was translated to German but you can read the original English version below.

“Narcissism is a beautiful disease when the patient is an egomaniacal artist. Distinguished for his discombobulated sense of humor, blatant use of cosmetic products, and fascination with life’s luxuriant materials (time pieces above all things), fearlessly opinionated Canadian Tiga is a perfectionist and the world is his bucket of LEGOs, something expected from someone who’s far from shying over binging off the reference “I”.

Prostrating its 2006 critically acclaimed predecessor Sexor in somber frivolity, CIAO! is like a super racing car, always overshadowed by it’s driver (Tiga). Realistically it’s what’s under the hood does half the job of winning the race. New kids on the block The xx seem to be making quite a name for themselves after the release of Crystalised on 7". Their music is so good that it's almost sexual, making me wonder why there isn't a third X in their name, but jokes aside there is an incredible deep yearning quality which moves even the toughest of us.

When listening to their music there seems to always be an underlying story or symbolism to it, as with Crystalised the eerie tones make us feel like we're in the calm before the storm - a huge one. Almost uncomfortably, with the music under your skin you want more, well thankfully there are a handful of covers by The xx, namely Hot Like Fire (featured as a B-Side on the sold out 7") and Teardrops, both of which would be perfectly fitting for an incredibly gloomy independent film.

Their quite minimal indie-pop is pulled off perfectly and makes for highly addictive listening like a straight jacket you'll want to wear out and never take off. It's night music made at night, one that evokes nostalgia & feeds ominousness to the senses.

If you haven't grabbed their single yet, I recommend you do that immediately as it's getting sold out. An album is said to be on the way, from which we can expect them to "retain the simplicity and essence of the demos, but take them up a notch".

So here at Ohh! Crapp... we are more than happy to say that The xx are our favorite new band of the moment and we're already in stalker fan mode.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is one of the few mainstream popstars that I have genuine interest in, even though she had some minor musical WTF moments that I totally blame on the production side. Mixing Pop, Disco, Nu-Disco, Dance, House, 80s Synthpop & Electronica with Alternative Rock has become the most common plan when launching a new pop-wannabe-star by major labels, it kinda is the case with Sophie except that she's the one that chooses her producers, collaborators and never afraid to try new things or swim against the stream.

As confirmed previously through my interview with Metronomy, they are producing for her forthcoming album along with Calvin Harris who contributed two songs, "Calling It Love" and "Off And On", an outtake from Róisín Murphy's album Overpowered written with Cathy Dennis; he also remixed "Off and On" for club play. Freemasons worked with Ellis-Bextor on "Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)". Her collaboration with Richard X resulted in a song titled "I Still Believe in Magic". She also worked with Groove Armada, The Hoosiers, Dimitri Tikovoi, Hannah Robinson, Matt Prime and Liam Howe from the Sneaker Pimps.

Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer) is Sophie's pre-album hype/promo single and Freemasons official first single from their upcoming album "Shakedown 2".

Sophie's (possible) first official single from her yet untitled fourth studio album is "Sophia Loren" and can be currently heard in the new Rimmel London ad campaign in which she also stars. The song was co-written by Ellis-Bextor, frequent collaborator Cathy Dennis, and Christopher Rojas. The latter produced the record which was mixed by London based mix engineer Jeremy Wheatley (also re-edited Royksopp's latest "The Girl & The Robot" for the radio).

Her album is expected to come out on 27-7-2009.

Weird Tapes the side project from one of the Hail Social dudes is as fantastic as his name implies, an artist with the absolute right to drown the Blogosphere in bound-to-become-worshiped bootleg remixes and covers but was able to maintain his quality composure. One search on Hypem & you realize that every single respective Blog already had its 2 cents in on this marvel; I myself was in a coma until now.

Weird Tapes doesn't believe in grow-on music, it's a love affair formula that kicks in from the first listen. Further proof, my heavy-metal fan brother walked into my room last night to snatch some Redbull popsicles and was forced to justify himself after I caught him nodding his head behind my back to Weird Tapes' version of Personal Best, then he said uncomfortably "Okay… This tune is good.", that was a first since his usual comments on what I listen to are "Are you sick? - WTF is this garbage?".

Blending everything from Disco, Lo-Fi, 80s Synthpop, House, Electro, Breakbeat, New Wave, Italo, Ambient, Lounge and 3D Chiptune, this genre has every right to be called Fantasy because I keep listening to Weird Tapes past midnight when everyone is sleeping and think of how safe I'd feel driving with the top down by a nuclear power plant at night with Weird Tapes on, it just takes one's mind into an ulterior dimension where divinity and state of cosmic nirvana are reachable, nostalgia is a master factor & surfacing feelings are the side effects. Weird Tapes erupts my senses and I’m addicted to it like you won’t believe.

Confused on why his stuff are all free for download!? It's exactly the kind of music I wouldn't mind spending lots of $ on but then he probably wants to exhibit his art and make the world a better place!

His latest official remix is done for Britney Spears, I wonder how her people found out about Weird Tapes since 99% of her remixes are done by safe commercial dance names. Weird Tapes unsurprisingly turned this meh song into a better than the original version, an edit of this should have been used as the radio/single version.

Ted & Francis EP

I don't think any other Australian act received as much Ohh! Crapp... love as Ted & Francis did since the very beginning of their existence, but it always pissed me off that non of their tracks were previously officially released as standalone singles but instead they were scattered on compilations & the rest were remixes done for others.

Finally, the duo recorded 2 new songs in addition to the amazing Erlend/I Wish I Was A Polar Bear and released them as The debut Ted & Francis EP through Kitsuné in Europe/USA and is set to be released on the 15th of May in Australia on all your favourite digital download outlets (Itunes, Beatport, Juno Download etc).

The boys sent in this remix of Erlend by their favourite Melbourne boy G.L.O.V.E.S. who turned this tropical ballad into an 80s TV show slow jam.. think white boy Whitney Houston and you've hit the mark.

Joakim & The Robot!

The Club Promos are going out & the video to the masses' favorite The Girl & The Robot is being finalized by director Michael Baldwin for an online premiere in the next 10 days. Röyksopp sent in this behind the scenes photo from the video shoot that shows the girl, the robot and the salesmen(?) !

This is the only Joakim remix that took a few plays before growing on me, but once it does you're going toappreciate it; best bit is @ 4:06!

Manchesteranian Modernaire is an electro-pop outfit is one of those music formations that I despite discovering them early this year, I still can't decide whether I'm actually liking them or if they're just a matter of an OK off-pop-band/group-thing (that sort of pop music that supposed to sound all DIY & not all quite right & polished); It's a tricky concept where you could end up thinking you're liking something that is deliberately sounding off when it actually is off... now this doesn't mean I'm referring to these guys here with that nonsense i just blathered about but I know it will take a future official release with remixes & maybe a video to deliver the whole gig & help me decide what I really think of them.

On the other hand I really appreciate their remixing efforts & I bravely can say their remix of Metronomy was actually better than a couple of the official ones!

I've been in touch with Oscar the man of Modernaire for a while now & he's been working on an MGMT remix that he just finished few days ago - It catches the MGMT essence by slightly raising up the quirk bar, drugging the bassline with ketamine & throwing in bits of drowsy disco funk for a good measure.

Might not hit you from the first play but it's a good thing if it did.

Wanna learn a thing or two about attitude, return to Beth Ditto for reference - plus size model and shameless fashionista & fellow band mates push The Gossip deeper into the DIY indie-rock territory by toning down the polish. Taking on an über cliché subject for a concept, their new Rick Rubins produced album Music For Men revolves around love & Beth Ditto's favorite song is called Men In Love which talks about gay men in love with each other.

Ladyhawke Resurfaces...

It seems New Zealand wonderkid Ladyhawke has managed to slip off the blogosphere radars, the reason is beyond us, as her music is still some of the most unofficially remixed work out there. It could possibly be down to her shy nature - we're not sure , however with DJ's of such stature as Frenchman Fred Falke offering remixes for her single releases, we are left to wonder what exactly has been happening with Ladyhawke?

Apart from her unorthodox taste in mens and boys clothing (even underwear), it seems that Ladyhawke and Fred Falke have been keeping secrets from us, as recently a second remix of her song Back Of The Van has emerged out of absolutely no where. People who are familiar with the single Ladyhawke released, will remember the Beverly remix that came with it, This time it's the Valvestate remix we are treated to.

Looking like the spawn of high-priced skin and hair products, singer/producer/songwriter Patrick Wolf enjoys unconventional fashion just like Icelandic queen Björk does and knows how to juxtapose his musical craft along his pulchritudinous exoskeleton. Wolf's pours out his emotions and fantasies like a waterfall on the new conceptual album The Bachelor (previously titled The Battle), now ready to release his couragouesly dramatic song Hard Times as the second single from the new LP.

James Yuill has lightened this darkly delicious (called faggot pop by some) power tune with D'n'B ghost progression, 80s synth coating and ethereal vox treatments, resulting in a spacey theatrical-friendly club number I'm currently in love with. It's just one of those remixes you'd want to blast out loud & sing along to early in the morning or late at night.
