Whoever said don't judge a band by its name should've invested more thoughts into his theory, because nowadays a band's name is pretty much the first tip to its brilliance. The Vanish sounded like band I'm bound to gluttonously consume and that is exactly what I started doing the minute I put their tricks to the test.
A fascinating sound flaring with rich velveteen bass and powdery synth only 70s porn-movies themes appropriately preserved for a generation aesthetically accepting couture shows in neon lit arcade halls and funerals at dinosaur exhibitions in museums.
Indie-Electro-Disco-Pop-Dance-House or whatever this spell is called, I'm stalking them this year and to stop me you'd have to shoot me.

The only down side to The Vanish is the presentation, their press shots takes a chunk out of the brilliance where it portrays them as a young version of an electro amesh Blues Brothers, When their music and name bring to mind arty images of triangles, crystals, clatter of objects and bizarre surrealism - sort of like the first Presets album cover or the Yacht current imagery. I think they are one step away from perfection, my advice: invest in a good photoshoot with a proper price tag.
The music is deliciously irresistible, the presentation... not so much.

really funny that you mention their imagery. that was the first thing that struck me...how cool that photo was, not sure how you see it as bad presentation at all...think you are off on that criticism completely.

But really, their music is what matters.
