I ♥ Chateau Marmont

How many of you agree with me when I say Melody is the new Maximal/Noise/Distortion? It somehow seems like the shredding sounds of machines have found residency in a few artists who were part of its flourishing. Artists who, until this day, have the ability to shape it and upgrade it to our likings, leaving a mountain of wannabes and genre-milking rookies forcing themselves with big signs on the clearance shelves.

When the word Melody is mentioned, one of the first names that pops into my head is Chateau Marmont the Parisian four piece epic soundtrack synth-pop astronauts from France. A band blessed with immunity from ever producing a bad remix and they even have Kitsune to back that up with a catalog of artists they confided Chateau Marmont in reworking time after time.

I love the showers of good remixes hailing from them but then all this side work is keeping them busy from the most important task, finishing their debut album which doesn’t seem to have even started to formulate. If you’re thirsty for some original tunes then your best bet is to have your hands on their Solar Apex EP. It’s a little packet of 4 cosmically correct pop tunes for the imaginative generation with a knack for geeky daydreams jerking tunes. Tunes that give us visions of unicorn back riding around Venus, swimming with dolphins in milk filled Milky Way, surfing on color changing neon sun-rays or even attending a gig upon a sparkling star. Don’t call the analogies lame, try to star in your own music video when listening, you’ll find out that it actually work.

Chateau Marmont allowed me to share one of my favorite tracks off Solar Apex so you can feel the marvel too.

You can purchase Solar Apex now in Vinyl/Digital formats from Arcade Mode & iTunes.

I can only agree !

In the same vein (but more moroderesque, morriconesque), take a look at daroc, another talented french musician :

And there's a new track from them on the Kitsuné Maison Compilation 7, it's called Beagle and (once again) it's a killer.
