Calvin Harris Is AWSM!

http://i41.tinypic.com/2ccxyms.jpg
The new Calvin Harris single is a true trick & treat thing, initiating acoustically to trick one into thinking it's a feeling-down plead from a lonely man kind of song with a super cliche guitar driven body, but that only lasts for about 44 seconds before the real analogue treat accelerates & the electronic powers emerge to the surface.

I'm not alone shall find it's way easily onto countless dancefloors & parties this summer for its super giant-speakers friendly nature. An anthem built to be enjoyed in open air, day or night - to be danced to sober or drunk with or without glow-wristbands & glowsticks intact in hand.

Harris' sound shift away from the acceptability of the 80s, and risky approach towards peaktime trance infused electropop anthems, sure gained him more respect from me & proves furthermore that he's a no one trick pony nor renders in 1D.

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone

Impressing strobelight affair comeback.

I can't believe people are buying into this. Makes me sad really, after making some great tunes he comes out all trance cheese. Better start posting some Tiesto...

French Fries loves this. Get your hands in the air. everyone secretly loves a bit of cheesey trance!!!

reminds me of late 90's trance.

castlesofnoise.blogspot.com said...

it does kind of sound like that ferry corsten mix, but so what. the whole point is that he makes good dance music. This ain't normal trance, this is actually made properly.

Calvin harris knows how to make good music. Lose your hang-ups about whole other genres of music and take it for what it is. A flippin massive tune.

also, fj, get my email. new bloody beetroots is up.

I have to agree with Luciano & Altbro. This is not the Calvin Harris from Dumpfries we knew, this is the Calvin Harris wanting to make lots of money by making cheap trance that will do good in mainstreamclubs... Pity...

Hmmmm... I wasn't a big fan of I Created Disco, but I'm really enjoying this, and that remix of The Hours he did come to think of it.

I don't think this is any more or less commercially orientated than Acceptable in the 80s or The Girls. But I guess any change in direction is gonna cause a differences of opinion.

song = meh
sorry. not sure why people are into bad poppy techno on this site, i thought this was about the good stuff?

Fair enough the riff is commercial trancesque but the song is a bit of a change and god knows we need a break from mainstream house crap.

Damn this is sad. Though this blog brings the tunes, Calvin Harris' relly sunk deep this time.

Where's the funk?

extended mix is on hypem.....

Mike said...

I've read things like: "He has a good enough background not to be labeled a wannabe tiesto"

What??? It doesnt suck because he used to be good??

...Its like everyone's been hit by the same fuckin' brainwashing death-ray. Help!!

Good music is good music whatever the style. This was refreshing to me as it proves that trancey/euphoria can still be great when made properly.

It will be interesting to hear more tunes from him tho, they should be about in the nxt few weeks.

(also, fj, is it too damn cheeky to ask for another post up into the hypem world?!? i.e the new beetroots rmx?)

Bastille said...

You clearly know about and most likely have the new beetroots remix, you don't need fj to post it up for you. He's doing a great job already.
