La Roux quickly became one of the most blogged about bands on both mainstream & indie blogs but in almost all the cases the band is referred to as She where many think that La Roux is a solo artist when in fact it's an equal duo effort "singer and synth player Elly Jackson and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid".. but then you can't blame anyone because the way La Roux been promoting itself through imagery & press does convince one into thinking La Roux is a singer.
Anyhow, when Quicksand was released last November(?) through Kitsune I thought it was the most horrible 80s influenced pop song ever & I probably thought that way because of the distinctive vocals & singing style of Elly.. with further thoughts into it, I realized it was again facing the Muscles Syndrome situation where lots of people thought his messy vocals were a joke but then everyone found themselves drawn into it & appreciating it for the same reason that repulsed them in the first place.
La Roux will release their debut this year through Polydor along with their second single In For The Kill on March 2nd with remixes from Skream & The Twelves.
♫ La Roux - In For The Kill (Skream's Let's Get Ravey Mix)
If Quicksand didn't do it for you either, then I highly recommend you to give them a second chance by watching the music video of In For The Kill because it's the track that secured me as an interested fan & because Tronik Youth also thinks it's brilliant.
Check out their tour dates & ohh, La Roux means Red-Haired-One.

Wooooooooooooo oooooooooooooo!
Yaaaaayyaayyaaa!! this video is awesome
glad you changed your mind on La Roux!
and btw.. its weird cuz red-haired-one in french is "la rousse" for a girl, and "le roux" for a boy so its mixed up.. she doesnt speak french for sure... lol
I think La Roux is sick... although I can see how people would think they/her singing is annoying. I downloaded Quicksand and Fascination... and went from thinking Fascination was extremely shitty to actually liking it. I think I'm a sucker for the slight overdub or whatever vocal distortion she uses. At worst, it's good remix fodder.
Also, enjoyed the FrankMusik interview as well. Keep up the good work!
Anything The Twelves touch turns to gold, so I'll be keeping my eyes out for their remix. Don't hold out on us if you get it, FJ! ;-)
^ A friend of mine heard the Twelves remix & said it's bad.. there's another version of the Skream remix said to be super good! we'll find out soon.
P.S. To whoever said that La Roux is wrong in French, it's because it's Gaelic apparently :)
Quality remix, not expecting it from Skream!
Man Alive! Spent the last two weeks looking for this track, we kept searching for "La Rue"!!!
Thanks for the spellcheck "oh crapp"
all the best,

Goddammit I can't stand her stupid fucking hair.
not really feeling the original, we really need to let the 80s rest in pieces now but that remix from Skream is killer.
la roux = the balls
quicksand was IMMENSE
her hair is not that bad
:]
okay okay fine..
now where is that popstar, similar to la roux and kylie and such, you promised us ???
oh btw la roux they make great music, kind of reminds me of jenny wilson her singing, but, personally i hate her. first of all, she wanted to make folk music but her label said no folk wont be cool in 2009, so they send her to ben (producer) who gave her this cool sound.. also, when somebody said in an interview she was influenced by kylie, she put her mood on myspace to ENRAGED and wrote in her blog "and ps i DO NOT like kylie. arrogant red headed cunt.
what you realised is that everyone was digging la roux and so you followed suit. the new song is a fucking car crash but skream saves it. does he know you've got it up on here i wonder?
Freaking amazing stuff! Took me a couple of seconds into Quicksand to start loving La Roux. The tune combined with the video makes me ponder on Galaxy Boys and Anoraak and the likes. I did however have sort of eureka moment when I read the title of the post. It's because of this Quicksand remixed by autoKratz... I heard some time ago and did wonder who this La Roux was for a while, and now I know. THANKS!! (The remix is also quite amazing if I may say so :)
i love her and this video and this song. (:
I also love Reflection and Protection or whatever its called... :)
anyone know where i can pick up some remixes of this? top tune!
@dek: a new one was released today over at Lafriendly, other than that..do what i did - an elbows-search ;) got me quite a few mixes..
ball bag!
Who cares if she wanted to do folk and has taken a pop at Kylie, the music is hot!
What a tune! Seriously.
Going to be the sound of the summer. Imagine with this on nice and loud with a drink in your hand, chilling at the back with the mates having a Braai! Lovely!
QUALITY STUFF!
Its so good to hear something different, her voice is not annoying. She has a modern touch to the 80's vibe.
This is amazing! Its such a good skew off from other music out now.
Love the song and the remix, La Roux’s a great new artist to watch out for. The Foamo Remix of this is great too.
fabulous, i heart la rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo(ux)
I love La Roux - fantastic new artist! She was really great when I saw her supporting Lily Allen on tour :). Fab stuff.
