A friend of mine Marco is a writer from Frankfurt/Germany, a couple weeks back he received an advance copy of Junior for his publication's reviewing purpose! So, I asked him to briefly comment on each track of the album to give me an idea of what to expect, since I'm holding back from previewing any tracks off the album in order to be fully surprised when the physical CD arrives. So, here's a quick track by track mini-commentary.
01. Happy Up Here
The single, everybody knows it, Parliament Funk sampling Groover that sounds very Röyksoppish.
02. The Girl & The Robot (ft. Robyn)
Driving uptempo track, 80s Disco style, with Robyn on some catchy vocals. Possible future single.
03. Vision One (ft. Anneli Drecker)
This is their remix for Eri Nobuchika from 2007 (I guess). Production sounds the same, only vocals from Anneli Drecker are in english now. If you love the remix, you gonna like this one.
04. This Must Be It (ft. Karin Dreijer-Andersson)
With Karyn Dreijer, very similar to track 2, but little more on a Jaques LuCont production for Madonna. Not as epic as „What else is there“, but still good.
05. Röyksopp Forever
Stringloaden Instrumental track with some space sounds from an 70s Sci-Fi Movie. Gets very orchestral in the end. good one.
06. Miss It So Much (ft. Lykke Li)
With the great Lykke Li on Vocals on this (bitter-)sweet breakup song.
07. Tricky Tricky (fat. Karin Dreijer-Andersson)
Again Karyn Dreijer, this is my least favourite song of the album so far, cause it sounds like cheap new rave and very stressy. Doesn’t fit for me.
08. You Don't Have A Clue (ft. Anneli Drecker)
With Anneli Drecker, again a more melancholic song, guess I prefer these style from the band. One of my favourites from the album, a heartbreaker.
09. Silver Cruiser
Slow instrumental, also very moody and with a constant build up to the climax. Beautiful track.
10. True to Life (ft. Anneli Drecker)
Another more danceable song with Anneli in a classic Röyksopp style. Not outstanding, but still a good one
11. It's What I Want (ft. Svein & Torbjorn as themselves)
On the final track the guys sing themselves. And if I liked it on the former attempts, this time I though, they may should had left it to the girls. Acceptable, but the second least favourite track.

I am an avid fan of Royksopp and now I am tending to be an ex-fan... This cover sucks just as the first single (not even the remixes could save that silly song). Along with the new Junior Boys album the biggest disappointments in years... what a pity...
I am only putting the faith I have left on the two Karin tracks.

Album’s on my desk, it’s quiet good after the first check, but needs more attention. Some familiar stuff, some new sounds, but interesting as always and definitely no failure.

Aahh! I love this album! And even more so after I listened to it with a friend who never heard about Royksopp before! Im proud to be 50/50 norwegian/swedish. It has so many moods to it, and every track fits in perfectly! Its gonna be the soundtrack for my spring!!
Good old Royksopp, nothing new but why should Royksopp re-invent themselves!? They still rule!
To be honest, Junior is awesome, despites a bit mainstream. and i find myself just get more fond of it when listen more to it. magic. much better than The Understanding.

"You Don't Have A Clue" is easily the best song on the album!
Royksopp forever is the only "keeper" for me. I feel like a shrill voice when I say that I liked most of the songs on The Understanding except for "What else is there." Karin sounds too much like Bjork to me.
"tricky tricky" is painful to listen to with her, but with her it is nearly unbearable.

12. Röyksopp - Were You Ever Wanted
and i dont like it when people write they dont like some of their songs! these royksopp guys are geniuses, 3 albums and they got 16 STARS out of 20 STARS combined for those 3 in every review possible around the entire globe! You would have to look to an artist like Jean Michel Jarre to find the same good reviews in the beginning of his/their careers in electronic music.
Just brilliant, possibly better than Melody AM in that all the tracks a listenable too. I skip a few on Melody. Rubbish cover art though.
