One Size Fits All...

http://i40.tinypic.com/314pjes.jpg
I've been slacking badly lately with lots of goodies dropping into my inbox, I blame it on the cold weather for making me so lethargic... I just forced myself to wake up & post every single worth posting remix right here right now & there shall be more & more as the day comes to an end.

Ohh! Crapp...'s #7 entry Walking On A Dream of the top 10 album of 2008 is making its debut in UK/Europe on February 23rd! The new single as we all know by now is We Are The People, so expect a handful of remixes soon! The music video for We Are The People premiered couple days ago on MySpace, it was shot in the towns of Garcia, Xilitla, & the Icamole desert in Mexico.

On a relative note, the Danger remixes for Walking On A Dream should've been released on 12" by now... what happened?

Empire Of The Sun - We Are The People (Cagedbaby Remix)
Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream (Kaskade Club Remix)

The Guilty Hands, a 4 piece from London with a simple ambition to inject some much needed drama and romance into the Indie scene. Earlier this year they recorded 2 tracks with producer Gareth Parton, previously responsible for work by The Foals, The Go! Team, Pete and the Pirates, and more.

Their single will be released sometime in 2009, but for the moment they’re giving away an electro remix by The Release of A-side Gregory and the Birds for free. You can download it at electro remix of Gregory and the Birds.

The Guilty Hands - Gregory & The Birds (The Release Stranger To Love Mix - Edit)

First The Bat gave us Metronomy then Chromeo then a Cicada/Twelves combo then some Juan MacLean leftfield disco love & now a whole Groove Armada of top notch remixes, 2 of them you can download now & 3 more will be released for the public on the 20th of Jan through Bacardi B-Live Share - It just keeps getting better.

Groove Armada - Drop The Tough (The Twelves Remix)
Groove Armada - Drop The Tough (Van She Remix)

Probably Clubbers know more about Monosurround than some of us blog diggers, I've heard the phrase Under Appreciated many times when someone tend to talk about them, but it's never too late to get acquainted. Shir Khan sent in his Indie Dance Dub of Mushroomed & it's garnished with bass & quirk.

Monosurround - Mushroomed (Shir Khan Dub)

Lady GaGa suxxx, FRANKMUSIK is king.

Lady GaGa - Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) (FRANKMUSIK Silverspoon Remix)

"Sometimes happens that you are listening to a crappy radio station (just because you don't feel like listening to the same "top ten" s**t everyday) and ...TA TA!!! (that's the sound of surprise :) ...boom boom boom, wow wow wow, yeah yeah yeah ...that's what happened with The Cool Kids...LOVE LOVE LOVE ! So much love deserves the first Chewy Chocolate Cookies remix of 2009!!!"

The Cool Kids - 88 (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

Karin Dreijer = (1/2) The Knife = Fever Ray's If I Had A Heart wrongfully fiddled by the unexplainable Fuck Buttons. Debut Self Titled album out now digitally - physical release in March. The Fuck Buttons remix is out next month as part of the If I Had A Heart 7".

Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart (Fuck Buttons Remix)

"On the back of this, 2009 sees KiD COLA starting afresh with a massive remix of Ladyhawke’s “Back Of The Van”, which utilises Pip Brown’s pop sensibilities and KiD’s knack for puling out great hooks, as well as massive house beats, wobbling synths and even some dubstep influence. One could be mistaken for thinking this was going to be a lighthearted indie re-edit, until a stab of low end leads into his trademark drum pattern and the bass slams in, leading to all kinds of dancefloor destruction and on to newer territories for this young producer who is refusing to duped into a pidgeon-hole."

That text is from the Press Release, to be honest... this might take a while for me to get into or not.

Ladyhawke - Back Of The Van (KiD COLA Remix)

Who Is BUILD?

Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire (Build Remix)

Animal Collective gave us this year Merriweather Post Pavilion which seems to be THE ALBUM of 09, where critics averagely rated it between 9 & 10 and that's something we don't see everyday - they've just finished a remix of Mirando the third single from Ratatat's LP3 to be released on Feb 3rd.

Ratatat - Mirando (Animal Collective Remix)

I was so happy when Kitsune troopers Joe And Will Ask? dropped their remix of Fairmont's Gazebo at the Erol Alkan forum couple days ago, an electro house track i fell in love with in 2005 when it got released on James Holden's label! Their remix could amost be called a cover where it rebuilt the entire track to their style!

If you like this, the i highly recommend hunting down the original too!

Fairmont - Gazebo (Joe And Will Ask? Remix)

Who the hell is/are Faze Action? I'm completely in love with their remix work! Ever since they dropped that fantastic official Parquet Floored Skating Rink Super Disco Filler of Metronomy's Heartbreaker, I've been yearning for another remix just to prove that they're no one hit wonders & here i am today all giddy and a fan! This is their new rework of Croatian Nu-disco gem Ilija Rudman - authentic disco y'all, It's LOVE LOVE LOVE!

The intro kinda reminds me of DFA's remix of Chemical Brothers' The Boxer!

Ilija Rudman - Dance Disorder (Faze Action Remix)

I'm so happy, Metal On Metal is doing a remix of an artist i really like wich we should have by the end of FEB if all goes right.. I really like these guys & their upcoming single DAMN i something I've been anticipating since last year!

They've just finished a remix of the 3rd single off Bloc Party's Intimacy & It's fairly great! One Month Off will be released on January 26 with a remix by Findo Gask (as far a I know) - no clue if the Metal On Metal will be released... probably just promo?

Bloc Party - One Month Off (Metal On Metal Remake)

Ok, this is hella old.. it's from 2007 when i used to be in love with commercial dance & yesterday it popped out of nowhere when I hit shuffle by mistake on my iPod touch & realized how amazing it still is, in other words.. it's ok to listen to commecrial dance if it sounds right. Thought I'd share it.

K-Klass - Let Me Show You (Stonebridge Remix)

Ever wondered what D.A.N.C.E. would sound like if Justice were a Glam Rock band? Well Fancy from France have supported Justice on their tour in the past & recorded this awesome cover that kind of answers my question!

Fancy - D.A.N.C.E. (Do The F.A.N.C.Y.)

Wow.....haven't heard Faze Action in ages. First introduced to them in the late 90's early 00's, during the whole "Chill Music" phase. Nice to see they're still out there.

The Build Cut Copy remix is - perhaps - one of the best mixes done amongst the sea of umpteen MOR mixes of Cut Copy.

Frankly - there's been too many light weight "XFactor" turd-ish mixes, but this kicks like fucking mule...........who is he/she/they ?

Yeah, Faze Action have been in hiding for about a decade! Seem to remember they did a nice remix of D*Note's Waiting Hopefully (the Deep Dish mix was also great!)...

It makes me sad that douchebags like Kaskade are starting to remix the stuff I used to file under "not Kaskade".

Faisal Jehan said...

^^ I know.. my first reaction was.. OH GOD NO! It kinda craps up Empire too having commercial rei\mixers do their tunes. :(
