NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! >:-(

AXWELL DIRTY SOUTH BOB SINCLAR HARD-FI

These latest releases from Axwell are great stuff - still, i think his magic peaked in 'Feel The Vibe' & 'Lead Guitar'... his style is very confusing because the odds of expecting Good/Awful remixes from him are 50/50 so you should never have your hopes high whenever a Release/Remix is in the horizon. - Ohh & 'What a Wonderful World' will vocally remind you of that Diddy & Felix Da Housecat release 'Jack U' - He's been around for 8 years now, why haven't he released an LP yet?

DL: Axwell & Dirty South - Open Your Heart (Vocal Mix)
DL: Axwell & Bob Sinclar - What A Wonderful World (ft. Ron)

..don't sleep on this, an absolute Axwell favorite (below)!

DL: Hard-Fi - I Shall Overcome (Axwell Remix)

Make sure you play it loud when the sun is shining.

Quickies!

Most of what I recieved in the mail from the past week, there are a bunch of gems - depends on your radar.. and ohh since i mentioned the word Radar.. I hear that 'Hot Pink Delorean' are remixing it, so i asked:

"YO! Is it an official remix? coz rumors around that there will be no video for Radar and no single release!!?"

Hot Pink Delorean said:

"its official...and we're soooo close to done : )"

100% pure pop-rock n roll, made in Japan - Before you cringe at the thoughts of a helium-huffing school girl belting out nonesense to a recycled Roxette beat, give this a listen.

"I can't imagine This Is Love Psychedelico not making my year-end Top 10 list this year. The only record from 2008 I've enjoyed as much is Santogold's debut." Bill Friskics-Warren

"No fat, no filler, all fun." -SPIN

"Riveting rock" -USA Today

"Brilliantly good" -BlogCritics

"Insanely tuneful, back to front, and singer Kumi's Siouxsie Sioux-worthy pipes are enchanting in two languages. Consider this your first 'summer record.'" -Toronto Star

"Pure U.K., with big Britpop-like choruses bounding out of their tunes, and Pink Floyd-meets-Slade guitar sounds served up throughout. The Japanese invasion is upon us." -Prefix Magazine

"American pop music doesn't get more exciting than This is Love Psychedelico." -PopMatters

""A frisky, frothy co-ed duo, they've been twisting my brain inside out with their nimbly shape-shifting, bilingual Japlish lyrics (listen long enough and it makes sense) and super-catchy guitar- and keyboard-buzzing rock." -Philadelphia Daily News

"Like any self-respecting white person, I enjoy anything from Japan. Thankfully, there's the occasional Japanese act that lives up to my unreasonably high expectations. This time, it's Love Psychedelico." -Idolator

"Gutsy, Stones-inspired guitar riffs with undeniably catchy pop melodies" -NPR

DL: Love Psychedelico - Standing Bird
DL: Love Psychedelico - Everybody Needs Somebody

"Bliss it is to be alive when squiggly sawtooth synths are such a popular form of self-expression. Sounding like a playfully drunk Simian Mobile Disco, lead track Nervous Breakdown is a rave-tinged firestorm of splintered electricity, underpinned with a folksy sample suggesting, sensibly, that we 'rock it to the beat.'" - THE GUARDIAN, July 2008

DL: Don Rimini - Rave On

With all of those "beat diggers" raised on Golden Age hip-hop wandering into psychedelic rock and progressive folk, Koushik offers a point of departure. His unique approach stands as the reason Stones Throw adds him to a roster alongside the likes of Madlib and Dilla, Gary Wilson and YNQ. Hopefully, Out My Window gazes into the future as well as looking nostalgically at the past - and finds a space amongst the classics that you listen to many times over, finding new things to love with each listen

‘HYPNTZ’ is the first offering from London-born, Paris-based Dan Black. In a quest to meld the musical attributes of “Paul’s Boutique” with “( )”, “Hatful Of Hollow” with “Supa Dupa Fly”, and The Notorious B.I.G. with a lost 80’s sci-fi soundtrack - this Paris-based, English exile has created something nothing short of brilliant.

So, we're kicking things off in North America with the August 5th release of the gritty, resolute "Council Estate," the first single taken from, Knowle West Boy, Tricky's first album in five years.

Said single includes remixes from South Rakkas Crew and Toddla T, but we're going to feature the masterful club banger from Drums Of Death. If the allure of chord stabs from resurrected Italio-house pianos and the howl of James Brown weren't enough to draw you in, do yourself by making it to the 3:00 mark when the song crosses over the event horizon and is pulled apart on the atomic level... and then re-assembled on the other side. Mindbending...

DL: Tricky - Council Estate (Drums of Death Remix)
DL: Tricky - Past Mistake

"Hi there, How’s it going? Hope you’re good. Thanks again for featuring my tracks recently on your blog (although I think it was in a mix in the Gloopy poop post you had)….. Hope you like. Here is a link to a 320 of Sorry and a 320 of my new one ‘Hoot’.

It’s a bit different to normal, with a more heavy breaks feel and a piano breakdown! Yeah! A piano! It’s proper old rave in the breakdown but still has a modern ravehouse feel with the 4/4 drum parts. I have not even tried playing it out yet at a gig but many others have and they say it’s going down well. I hope you like it.

Any feedback is always appreciated and of course if you’d like to feature it on your Blog that would be superawsome." -Hostage

"Dear Friend, When I was 14 my friend played me an ODB CD in his house and I stole that CD. Over a decade later I was in a club in Brooklyn and a Party Crasher named Bruce and I agreed that it was time to bring Shimmy Shimmy Ya back. 2 days later we remixed it together. Here are the results." -Alan Astor

DL: Ol' Dirty Bastard - Shimmy Shimmy Ya (Alan Astor + Party Crashers Remix)

"Hello there, love your blog. - I thought I would drop this in your lap to see what you thought of it. Diabetes is a trance-y track that consists only of sliced bits of a rather obscure pop song (bonus points if you can figure out what it is!) plus drums. The result is surprisingly epic and addictive, I think." -Savant

With unreleased mixes for Primary 1 and MSTRKRFT already under his belt, Foamo (aka Kye Gibbon) releases 'Everything Cool' - another instant dancefloor killer carrying on from where 'Moving It Over Here' left off. Frisky Frenchman Don Rimini (aka Xavier Gassemann) has been lighting up the ghetto clubs of Paris since he was a teenager with sweaty-assed DJ sets combining the best of hip-hop, electro, and upstart rock'n'roll. Rimini’s infamous track "Let Me Back Up" has been a fixture in DJ sets by Busy P, MSTRKRFT, 2 Many DJs, Digitalism, Tiga, A-Trak, Aaron LaCrate, and Diplo among others.

the KICK'N RUN EP: "Rave On" chants ""We've come to kick your ass!" with the purposeful brutality of an Ultimate Fighting Championship punch-out and the joyous butt-bumping of a sweaty French discotheque. “Hools” is a hooligan-thrashin', rave-tent-trashin' rush fit for both an intimate club crowd and huge summer festivals. “Nervous Breakdown" is a funky crack-up in audio form. And “Ohow?" with it front-burner synthesizers and four-on-the-floor beat, is simply undeniable.

On August 26, Pioneering west coast electronic music act Mephisto Odyssey (AKA Mikael Johnston and Josh Camacho) makes a heralded return to the international dance floor with it’s aptly titled smash-in-waiting “Bump.” This 4-track electro/breaks/Hip-Hop hybrid was produced in conjunction with Hieroglyphics member DJ Toure and features vocals from DJ Polywog (from the movie Groove) and Z-man from LA-based Hip-Hop act One Block Radius.

autoKratz 'Down And Out In London And Paris'

autoKratz has always been on of my favorite artists from super label Kitsune. Over the past year and a bit they have constantly moved me with their brand of mechanical masterpieces of digital house. Always laden with spacey vocals and processed guitars they have not only made some of my favorite originals but also remixes not to mention all the EP's from the past have had great A and B sides with no filler. So on August 8th they will release their mini album called 'Down And Out In Paris and London' which is taken from George Orwell but is befitting a group from London that has its label based in France. The album is made for those who may not have been on the cusp of the E.P.s that have been flying out the doors of Kitsune in the last year. Cheers.
DL : autoKratz - Hearts

As an added bonus I thought I'd share the little known remix of Eric Prydz' 'Pjanoo' by Tel Aviv's Guy J. This one has been lost in the Falke only for me to shine a light on it.....this remix has a gigantc latenight bassline that is augmented from what can only be described as an LTJ Bukem style dnb roller bottom. Almost feels like taking Moving Shadow circa 2000 and blending it with Lot 49 or Southern Fried.

Disco Trash Music

Our friends Disco Trash Music sent along a pair of choice remixes of Nirvana and White Stripes sp please enjoy these. The Nirvana remix sounds like an even better Z-Trip (Which is a bold statement I know!) However the Germans hailing from Regenberg have held residencies at Scala Club for some time now and as such have a technical ability on these remixes that is surgical. These cuts are promos 192k but will definitely give you a reason to check out their myspace.

Brazilian Girls 'New York City'

The new Brazilian Girls album is set to drop on the 5th of August but I have small preview of the single 'Good Time' and the amazing 2nd song on the new one called 'Losing Myself'. This album spans the darker reaches of afrobeat, jazz, theater and electronica. Sometimes criticized by fan rags as too arty or jazzy global. The fact that alot of people don't either get it or like it only strengthens my love for them. Enjoy!

DIY Genius, Period

Just dragged my buttocks off the sofa and onto the roller chair in-front of this damn skin wrinkling light-radiating screen to say that I finally watched ‘Be Kind Rewind’ – beside being one of the most educational asinine movie & causing me to laugh loudly at 4:00am when everyone’s bedroom is only few foots away, this movie was alternatively a documentary on the mentality of ‘Michel Gondry’ & a DIY manual to How to turn junk into blockbuster movie sets & props & tips on finding fine environments for shootings.

Get it the next time you visit your DVD store, it will definitely add something to your artistic techniques of home video making.

While we’re at it, Michel’s previous movie ‘Science Of Sleep’ (Another absolute must watch) – starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Gael Garcia Bernal who is cute enough visually to make you crave for a hug, let alone a scene in the movie of him dressed as a fuzzy cat & singing about getting into your bed and keeping you warm in winter. It’s one of the cutest folk songs I’ve ever got hooked on and memorized after hearing one time.

DL: Gael Garcia Bernal, Sacha Bourdo, Alain Chabat, Aurelia Petit - If You Rescue Me (Chanson Des Chats)

…or maybe it had that effect because I saw the movie… dunno.

WKND UPDATE

I have been hella busy over the last few days(ok I'm lying -I've been golfing) but the fact of the matter is I still love you all out there and have a nice WKND assortment for you. I was contemplating doing a bunch of separate posts but opted instead for a super post so here goes.

First up is the wonderfully dark house world of San Frans Kaskade working with Ontario Canada native Deadmau5, Pottymouth's Santiago and Bushido expertly cut this one into a steady roller repeato with washed out female vocals that augment the quiet banger mentality present here. Chicago's Pottymouth also have the talents of Klaus Hill, James Amato, Heavyfeet, The Bulgarian, Hijack and DJ Fame.

BIO:

Screw soap the mouth; the brand of jack that defines Chicago's new-school house sound gets a tech-heavy makeover from the talent roster of Potty Mouth Music. Inspired by the dirty glitch twists of fidget house producers such as Switch, Trevor Loveys and Jesse Rose, Potty Mouth ditches conventional house boundaries, imploring turntable trickery, unconventional loops and straight up techno into its catalogue of tracks. Chicago-based label head James Amato keeps house-heavy influences in place and lacing them with the kind of dirty glitch that makes it feel so good to be so bad. Potty Mouth's artists include Crookers (Italy), Santiago & Bushido (Chicago), Hijack (UK), Dj Fame (New York), The Bulgarian (UK), Heavyfeet (UK), Cops & Robbers (Chicago), Electric Soulside (Belgium), Andy George (UK), Scott Cooper (UK), Klaus Hill (Australia), Mightyfools (Netherlands), Adam Bozzetto (Australia), Alias (Toronto), Chris James & Lee Dearn (UK), Urchins (UK) and Pette Vaydex (Ljubljana, Slovenia)
DL : Kaskade feat Deadmau5 - Move For Me (Santiago & Bushido mix)

After having just released his 'Kick 'n Run EP the other week and also applying some pretty cherry touches to the Young MC tracks for RMXXOLGY the frenchman they call Rimini has finished up a new mix(because he had so much free time!)
DL : Don Rimini - Kick 'n Run Mix July 2008

Next up is a major buzz saw face melter from Vancouver's Felix Cartal. As far as I'm concerned there is no good reason why I shouldn't fly out Van city to see this maniac producer/DJ. I am a slacker. This track is sooooo good that if someone remixes it I hope they have a pedigree better than God because this is perfect proggy electro.
DL : Felix Cartal - L'Amour

Something else wicked this week was the new remix of Buraka Som Sistema by you guessed it Hot Chip. It makes me so happy to see this kind of single remixing and artist collaborations. It can only mean stronger tracks and more options for the original artist upon releasing and EP for sale. Exposing electro heads to indies and vice versa.
DL : Buraka Som Sistema - Kalemba (Hot Chip remix)

Hip Hop soul r'n'b diva Estelle maintains my love of the true r'n'b flavour that is sorely lacking in North American acts. They always miss the motown that I love. The original of this one feels like a new song by Wham/George Michaels a la 'Faith' without the 80's gayness. After Treasure Fingers is done playin around we once again have another remix that stays true to the funkyness of the original and builds on top of it a beautiful synth overlay that makes a lazy summer anthem out of this already popular radio smash.
DL : Estelle - No Substitute Love (Treasure Fingers mix)

The Joker Rawks (R.I.P. Heath)!

Saw it last night, loves loves loves loves it - dunno about your side of the world but here in movie theatres when you're too enthusiastic about a movie and you arrive before everyone else, you end up waiting alone & enjoying saxophone renditions of tracks from the 90s by the likes of LL Cool J & Celine Dion... funny thing, i recieved two 7"s with awesome sleeves in the mail hours before going to the movie...

played it while getting ready & changing.. and it was just the perfect thing for my state of mind at that point because it brought that listening-to-saxophone-renditions-alone-in-a-big-hall feeling right into my bedroom.

If you understand what i just said, then this is for you.

DL: Kray - Cherry Lime Rickey

Kray is one half of the group Iller Than Theirs... both tracks were produced by Doc Strange.

Justice J.A.C.K.E.T.

...and now for the most ridiculous piece of consumerism I've ever seen. Can't wait to get my Daft Punk original interactive helmet with mic.

"Parisian electro kingpins “Justice” have teamed up with “Surface to Air” (the folks behind the We Are Your Friends video) and launched their own range of patent leather jackets and black jeans.

The Ed Banger duo who are notorious for their love of black shrunken leather jackets have created a limited edition of 3 jackets (just 150 pieces) and 2 pairs of jeans.

All designs come adorned with the Justice cross and will be available from June. If you are one of the people who plan to scramble for the limited edition designs, the collection will be made available at select locations worldwide including Surface To Air Paris, Surface To Air Brazil, Colette, Barneys, Lane Crawford, Isetan, Le Bon Marché, Paris Texas, Asylum, Le Shop and Incu.

To check out the rest of the collection click here now."

DL : Justice - Phantom II (Boy Noize Unreleased Turbine mix)

P.S. - I am aware of my blatent hypocritical advertising of the very consumerism I deplore.

Off & On & Off & ON?

First Calvin Harris switched it on for Roisin Murphy but she thought it was too pop/different from the sound she was aiming for on 'Overpowered' - so it leaked and created a huge buzz.. then Sophie Ellis-Bextor takes it On & demos it for her upcoming album.. unfortunately her version sounded Off... so Calvin wore his remix gloves again and tried to turn it On (Again)...eh.

Boogaloo Stu

Sounds like a Part.2 to Rachel Steven's (Richard X production) 'Crazy Boys' - I don't mind the Lady GaGa-80s-glam-exagerrated-drag-for-men-loox but the video massacres the song in many ways (specially that scene with the quasi-side profile of his waxed ass).

It's textbook electropop that fans of Pay TV, Rachel Stevens (Come&Getit Era) & Lisa Scott-Lee would go bananas over but for a quirk head like moi who finds pleasure in the likes of Metronomy this piece of studio lament will only last on my iPod for the sake of having something to shut up my friends with whenever they get the urge to use one of their (Your taste in music SUXX!) lines - mainstream zombies.

I would've preferred seeing a video of him in a glossy colored space suit riding a giant rubber dinosaur with a big ice-cream cone in his hand struggling from not falling off with all the giant neon gym balls being thrown at him... that would've changed my likings meter level of the songs..
Amazingly 'Manhattan Clique' who remixed Kylie, Sophie Ellis Bextor & Goldfrapp's awesome 'Ooh La La' has done a great re-mix to bring that twirly gum & tongue brush feeling to the original!

Don't Buy My Single! (Updated)

This is the kinda marketing I like:
"The new Esser single is available as a T-shirt single. The t-shirt comes with a unique code you can use to download the Headlock EP... featuring the following exclusive tracks: (Headlock/Baby It's A Boring/Headlock [12" Version])"

'Headlock' is a wonderous pop mash-up reminiscent of classic Beck or Ian Drury - telling the tale of the obsessions of being in love – with the wrong sort. "I've got a problem it's called livin'. When will I learn that you're no good for me. Oh, you've got me in a headlock, nothing in the world's gonna help me know"

"playschool pirate pop" -NME

"weird but sort of brilliant" -Popjustice

The Joker's Back

Ottawa is the capital of my beloved home 'on native land' - Canada. Hailing from the capital is Jokers Of The Scene. Since being signed to Fools Gold they have not stopped touring, remixing, writing, and touring some more. Mishka NYC is a fashion house in NYC that threw down the gauntlet and requested a mix from Jokers and this is where we begin tonight. O' how far those Canadians have gone. I wish they'd return to Winnipeg to bomb my skull again. You can see by the tour info below that they have blown the fuck up and now have some pretty sweet company whilst rocking parties. Enjoy The Mix!

Next up is a promo of mainstream electronic producers Mephisto Oddyssey getting repainted in Hot Pink and driven to sheer electro heaven in a Delorean. It feels like Boston's Hot Pink Delorean have been blasting us with new remixes every month and heres another that will give you a taste of club vocals getting classed up and expanded bass lines that have that guitar buzz feel.
DL : Mephisto Odyssey - Bump (Hot Pink Delorean)

I have also been loving this tight pro-lectro track from Plump DJ's called Torque of The Devil'. The Subs are here for their remix application and like 'Papillion' you should brace yourself and perhaps put away the good china before you allow this one to scream from your 'Subs'.
DL : Plump DJ's - Torque Of The Devil (The Subs remix) (removed)

Like the group M83 French artist DatA is perfectly capable of making a slow intellectual house remix . I love tracks like this for Sundays and long drives to my family gatherings. M83 is obviously pretty damn fine base material but the underpinning provided by the bass here from the French producer is sheer quality.
DL : M83 - Kim and Jessie (DatA remix)

Maskinen's 'Segertåget' almost sounds like a Swedish Bondo Do Role or something similar and for the most part they are an electro hip hop style house crew that give more credence to the idea that in the near future the Swedes will be above some of the usual European list toppers in terms of electro and house.

Noisia 'Seven Stitches vs Groundhog'

I am very excited to have a new breaky hi speed machine operated track from Noisia. Known for their perfectly technical drum and bass, breaks and now pumping electro. Like an audio chameleon Noisia adapts to the modern critical ears and finds a nice home somewhere between the Chemical Brothers, Hybrid and Boys Noize. The track itself has a beautifully crafted slap bass feel with a processed rock en roll guitar style. This track came out this week and has been on my mind while at the shop, at malls, in the car. The 90's electronic vocal that is employed(but can't be placed!)has been stuck in my gulliver all freakin weekend. cheers.

Depth Affect 'Hero Crisis'

So when is this wave of french producers goin to stop. Well not right here thats for sure. From Nantes I have for you my newest electro hop fetish. I am in love with Depth Affect y'all. I have a hard time pinning down the nuances sprinkled into this excellent new wave rap record. Beautiful electronic fidget hop and euro crunk with folky royskopp atmospherics. In terms of style I think of Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin, New Order, and a hint MF Doom. I have included a slice of the new album for you but please remember to pick up a copy for yourself to show support.

from autredirection.net:
depth affect’s long-lived eclecticism makes their production one of the strangest at the moment, putting together prefuse 73’s breakbeats, isan’s electronic lullabies & fennesz’ sound treatments. depth affect is creating a relevant, intelligent and dancing (in a wobbly way) work of art.

Updates From Here & There!

Beckham's Hi-Res photos of Emporio Armani Undies Ad - Now stop harrasing me for them (you know who you are) lol... here.

Two new tracks appeared on KAP10KURT MySpace player,'Mission Complete' is being properly mixed and will be released as a 12" with remixes by Tepr, Dolby Anol, Moulinex and Ocelot - 'Wasabi Warrior' will be after that probably. KAP10KURT has recently remixed Ocelot's "Our Time" and a Dolby Anol track - currently remixing Grafton Primary.

Coldplay are giving away a brand new track 'Death Will Never Conquer' as a free download to celebrate the start of their tour - here.

Amy Winehouse, Razorlight and Bloc Party are set to feature in a new online soap 'The Secret World Of Sam King' following the trials of a teenager working in Universal Record's postroom who sets up his own office at the back of a stationary cupboardwill - it will also feature guest appearances from Duffy, Girls Aloud and The Feeling.

Duffy is almost certain to be chosen to sing the theme song for the forthcoming new 'James Bond' film 'Quantum Of Solace', according to reports.

"(Britney Spears) is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album," her label, Jive Records, and her manager said in a statement to the Associated Press - "She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we're very excited about what she's accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet," they said.

Feist has re-recorded her global hit single '1234' and filmed a new video for it – with The Muppets. The singer is set to appear on an episode of 'Sesame Street', due to air in the US in August, and has recreated her acrobatic, Olympic-inspired video with the puppets. She has also written new lyrics for '1234' which includes the new chorus: "I love counting/counting to the Number Four". Watch here.

Lily Allen has released a brand new track online that she admits won't feature on her second album because she's "ripped off" Take That. 'Who'd Of Known' is being streamed on MySpace. Writing on her blog, Allen explained: "I have put up a song that won't make it on the album. I ripped off the chorus from Take That and I can't be bothered with the paperwork."

Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford has revealed that he has been signed up to work on Arctic Monkeys' forthcoming third album "It's much more psychedelic than the first album (2006's 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'). I wouldn't rule out a bit of R'n'B either – the boys know their stuff." .

Jarvis Cocker has revealed that his second solo album will be much heavier than his debut, 2006's 'Jarvis'. The singer is expected to hit the studio this year, but claimed his album will likely not be released until 2009.

Pete Doherty has announced that he will complete the recording of his debut solo album this month and release it later this year. He will travel to an undisclosed European studio this month with producer Jake Fior to finish the album, which is now over half complete. Songs set to feature on the album include 'Darksome Sea', 'Salome', 'Broken Love Song' and 'Withdrawn And Shaken'.

MSTRKRFT's as-yet-untitled second album, is due Oct. 7 via Dim Mak - although MSTRKRFT has largely avoided doing remixes while working on the upcoming album, the duo just finished a version of John Legend's "Green Light" featuring OutKast's Andre 3000. The track is the first single from Legend's next album, due in September via G.O.O.D. Music/Columbia.

Experimental rock act Deerhoof returns this fall with its ninth album, "Offend Maggie" due Oct. 7 via Kill Rock Stars.

Here is the track list for "Offend Maggie":
"The Tears and Music of Love"
"Chandelier Searchlight"
"Buck and Judy"
"Snoopy Waves"
"Offend Maggie"
"Basket Ball Get Your Groove Back"
"Don’t Get Born"
"My Purple Past"
"Family of Others"
"Fresh Born"
"Eaguru Guru"
"This Is God Speaking"
"Numina O"
"Jagged Fruit"

When "X-Files" heroes Fox Mulder and Dana Scully wrap up their second big-screen search for the truth this summer, audiences will exit to two tracks by U.K.-based electronic/rock artist UNKLE: One an original, hand-picked by series creator Chris Carter, and one a reinterpretation of the classic "X-Files" TV series theme song.

Popof 'Apoplexy' & Evil Nine 'They Live'

When Popof released 'Alcoolic' last year I knew from that track on that the Parisian was soon set to blaze it up. Lately he is just serving up more heat than Rafael Nadal. We are fortunate to have received a new track a la gmail called 'Turn The Music To Your Head'. Heavy applications of analogue sounding 909 style foundation with enough progressive elements to keep your heart racing at approximately 125 bpm.
DL : Popof - Turn The Music To Your Head

'They Live' is based on a pulp sci-fi story about aliens who live among us and manipulate us through subliminal advertising, other mind control techniques, and sometimes, guns and bulldozers. Like most Carpenter films, its artistic, fun, intelligent and does not take itself too seriously.

On Aug 4th Marine Parade Records is set to release this neat take on John Carpenters classic horror flick 'They Live'. This beast of a remix by Trevor Loveys has a jumpup drum and bassline with a housed back beat that makes for a nice combination. This is far and away the best remix Trevor Loveys has done to date make no mistake.

Evil Nine
is a DJ duo comprising members Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy. The pair first came together in 1998 after meeting in Brighton. After sending in a demo cassette they were signed by Adam Freeland to his Marine Parade record label, with their first release being the single "Less Stress". According to Beaufoy (in an interview given to Fabric Nightclub) part of the reason that their demo cassette tape was actually listened to rather than thrown away (by 1998 cassettes had become virtually obsolete in favour of CDs) was because of their friendship with Jemma Griffiths, who worked for Marine Parade at the time. She has since gone on to achieve chart success as a singer-songwriter under the stage name "Jem"

YoYoYoYoYo

Oh crap am I on the right blog?!
Your Only Friend in the house!! was kind enough to let me stop by on occasion and drop off some bangers. You guys like bangers? It's going to be tough bringing original material to this site because everyone else does such a killer job posting everthing that's hot and now but I'll dig through the crates and try my best.

First track I'm bringing to the table is a mash-up of DVNO and "What goes around comes around" by The Battle School. Shit's off the hook.

Next up is a track from Top Billin crew member Sharkslayer. A nice little B-more remix of Foreigner's Cold as Ice.

Matthew Dear 'Don and Sherri' Hot Chip remix

I am in sort of a minmal mood today so lucky for me that I have just what the music doctors have ordered. The genius behind such aliases as Audion, False, and Jabberjaw is Matthew Dear. He has dropped an intelligent dance record called 'Asa Breed' recently on Ghostly International. This record crosses the usual genre bending we have seen from labels like Modular, Ed Banger, DFA and in this case aforementioned Ghostly International. This indie electronic effort has many textures and faces with danceable thumpers and atmospheric soundscapes. You get to see into the producers soul on this one with a range of spooky spoken wordish vocals a la Underworld with that original Plus 8 minimalism and restraint. It's no surprise that Hot Chip are here for your audio pleasures with sparkling remix of the hit track 'Don and Sherri'.

As an added bonus I decided to add another track to the post here as a little P.S. to you the loyal following. Recently Masaya did a wicked Udon Mix with Gildas Loaec for Kitsune. I saw at his myspace that he was working with one of my favorite house producers and I was chuffed. That favorite tech house producer is Ripperton who describes himself on his myspace as a neo soul electronic producer. His music is sparse and sounds like a bore when played at 5 or even 6....thats why you have to turn it to 10. Its dense, rich and velvet grooves are worth the 10 mins that the track spans. Patience is a virtue folks.Kitsune records is Masaya Kuroki, Patrick Lacey, Gildas Loaec, Benjamin Reichen, Kajsa Stahl and Maki Suzuki.

BANGS & CURLS

Canadian duo BNGZ ‘N KRLZ (named after their haircuts?) apparently knows how to bang & curl a tune into the shape of their likings - i first recieved a message form them in March but it was only last month when i finally logged on MySpace to find it!

To cut the story short, this blogger here pressd play on their on their MySpace player & immediately fell in love with the rainbow sprinkles & hot fudge topped Heartbeat remix, which i immediately with a junkie like hustle demanded for it in HQ.

On July 11th i recieved the Annie remix + a remix of local punk band 'TheSet' that manages to sharply cut and chop the noise like silver anti-bacterial surgery cutlers.

Both remixes are top notch but i still vote for the 'Annie'... they revamped it while keeping the qualities of the original intact.

"Will + are both super busy with work, school, DJing, girlfriends, and life in general right now, but we hope to be back onthe production train real soon. thanks so much in taking an interestin what we do for fun, and we'll let you know as soon as we have somemore new stuff to post." - BNGZNKRLZ

Head over to their MySpace blog for some awesome mixes.

Zoo Brazil 'No Place Like Home'

Zoo Brazil has always walked a deeper techno path than most in modern electronic music but the Stockholm producers have officially broken through and are bringing their Nordic brand of glacial funk to a much larger audience. Upon looking at the wonderful album art I not only think of some the ditzy drinkspilling blonde getting laid out by the light show I also think about the beats that will hopefully batter me about in a musical fight club. I also ponder about the albums title 'No Place Like Home' and inevitably I see the wicked witch trapped under the house in the Wizard Of Oz. In any event Johan Emmoth and John Andersson have been at the forefront of studio work for themselves and other artists for years now not to mention the side projects which are: Cuba Computers, The Kelly Project, Laid and Outcold. They have had the good fortune of working with labels like the legendary Harthouse, Junior Boys Own and also Get Physical. Most recently they have also been linked to producing Ms. Minogue which can only benefit us all.

Buzz Factory!

The ever awesome Hyperbole got their gloves on the 'Buzz Factory' the B-Side from that band's single with the crystal dildo on its sleeve.

DL: The Presets - Buzz Factory

Grrrrrrrrr!

a la Prepmode

Ever wondered what would happen if Girl Talk mashed up electro instead of mostly mainstream and crunk? The answer is electro indie turntabalist Prepmode also known as DJ Simple Simon. Back in april we got a glimpse of some of his talent with the song 'Warhol' which displayed some interesting snippets of DVNO by Justice and some Yelle thrown in there with much more mashup than my reptilian brain can decipher.(especially after seeing Z-Trip last night, I'm all mashed out!)
I have also been digging his remix of Goose's 'British Mode' so I added that one for you kind folks as well. Goose rock my socks clean off and I can't tell you how much I want them to go back into the studio.
Hello people (and robots) of the universe! Prepmode here with an installment of music for your listening pleasure. In this episode, you will find a remix of Goose’s “British Mode” along with a couple of other tracks produced whilst traveling back and forth in my time machine. For those of you who don’t know me, I am a human from the USA who has been DJing many years and was a 3-time DMC regional finalist (for those of you who follow other DMC Turntablists like A-Trak and Klever). Peace and humptyness forever.

Also as an added bonus I decided to drop a wicked Hot Chip remix of Wiley's 'Wearing My Rolex' featuring the man himself live at this years Glastonbury Festival. This is such a hype track showcasing just how fucking rad Hot Chip truly are.

DL : Hot Chip - Rolex Glastonbury
Having worked with such notable producers as The Toxic Avenger things just keep rolling for John Burke and Heidi Cannon. The NYC duo known as Trash Yourself has (with the help of AC Slater) released a monster remix of 'Touch'. This fast electro banger bottoms out beautifully and applies steady vocal cuts ups that help carry this one along speedily to its goal of complete body movement. The song 'Fuck The Police' has some excellent processed guitar work that creates a razor sharp remix of the classic N.W.A. anthem. Also be sure to check out their ridiculously hype remix of Blur's 'Song 2'.

DL : Trash Yourself - Fuck The Police
DL : Trash Yourself - Touch (A.C. Slater remix)

Style Of Eye 'Girls'

Released on Pickadoll records Stockholm's Style Of Eye are back with another minimal tech house rumbler. 'Girls' came out in the middle of last month and has been making me look at my Ipod everytime it plays. I am not sure why I keep forgetting because it is not exactly like the mainstream electro and house that I usually bump. This is a definitely a late night selection for the educated dancefloors. The synth work towards the middle is muted and warped to create a movie score feel but with a great tranced out house beat. Ever since Linus Eklow released his 'Right Now' EP on Derrick Carter's Classic Music Company he has received many accolades from the dance press and DJ's. He has not only completed a compilation album for OM records but also put the finishing touches on his full length album which came out in April.

SymbolOne's Pink Fetish!

We've been great supporters of SymbolOne from the begining as you can see here, here & we've even interviewed them here!

Finally Love Juice is out (on Pink Vinyl ofcourse) & can be purchased online from Juno, it contains the original plus remixes by Danger & Moulinex.

Initialy the release was supposed to include a remix by Loose Shus but eventually (for some reason) was replaced by Danger... It's a win win situation for us because below is the Loose Shus remix in 320Kbps.

DL: SymbolOne - Love Juice (Loose Shus Remix)

Love Love Love all the people mentioned above!

Whitey Made Of Night

Whitey recently released his first new EP in a long time, titled 'Made Of Night' with 4 tracks, three which are from his upcoming album 'Stay On The Outside' where the track 'Not You Again (Nonstop)' is basically a rework or (part.2) of 'Non Stop' the single from his debut 'The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Is A Train' that recieved raving reviews from the press.

The first single from 'Stay On The Outside' will be 'The Invisibles' (a fecking monster! Slung with a groove so swinging that it's hosting sex parties and the man's trademark nonchelantly undestated vocals, this is a real dancefloor diamond.) backed with an Erol Alkan produced track 'Do The Nothing' - out 11th of August.

Made Of Night (EP):
01. Sweet Words For The Sour
02. Not You Again (Nonstop)
03. Made Of Night
04. Shaking On A String

Note on the back of the sleeve:
"I've had a wonderful night..... It just wasn't this one"

'Stay On The Outside' out late this summer, on Marqius Cha Cha (UK) & this fall in the US on DIM MAK records.

If you don't know who Whitey is then i advise you to research and educate yourself.. starting from his MySpace. The EP FUCKING RAWKS!

Avoid At All Costs - Read Me (Important).

The unthinkable has happened and the doors to hell are wide open for the metal galvanizing lava to pour out of our pc screen and into our laps… I’m sad and devastated to say that Metronomy’s upcoming album ‘Nights Out’ has leaked 7 weeks in advance to its release date September 8th.

The reason why I’m pissed off is because ‘Nights Out’ is one of my most anticipated albums of the year and I have been waiting for it ever since he started working on it.

A lot of money has been spent over the accompanying aesthetics of the album which are purposed to be enjoyed along with the music at the album release time – so, by downloading it now you do not only cost Metronomy their sweat and dough but you’ll ruin the experience of joining the real hype over it when its out.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT.

It’s going to be released through ‘Because Music’ who released the albums of Justice, Klaxons, DJ Mehdi, SebastiAn & Jarvis Cocker among others – which is only more proof of how brilliant this is.

If you don’t believe me then here’s someone who is not a blogger & actually agrees – here’s what Little Boots had to say about it His new album is seriously brilliant and from what I saw would be worth purchasing for artwork alone! .

If you’re an intelligent human being & have the least appreciation for arts then enjoy the mass of current releases until the 8th of September (which is really not that distant if you think about it)… but if you’re a moron who just clicks sleft & right to have every thing ‘first’ & ‘before’ everyone else (WOOOW U MUST BE MR. EXCLUSIVES N ALL…) then at least have the decency of not spreading it around or sharing it with ppl u know.

For now enjoy the singles – until then.

02. The End Of You Too
03. Radio Ladio (Video)

07. Side 2
08. Holiday (Video)
09. I've Got A Thing For You
10. Back On The Motorway
11. On Dancefloors
12. Nights Outro

Add this to your Must Buy list immediately - this is the only artist on this planet that can ram a whole toy store noise into any track and make it a mainstream success - if they want to.

And here a little hype praise from BigStereo.

You can also purchase the singles My Heart Rate Rapid & Holiday from iTunes with remixs by 'Primary 1/Maton' & B-sides 'Let's Have a Party/Our Raid/Matthias Gatherig'.

X-Press Yourself

Skint records has a presence in Britain's electronic music scene that is unparalled by any other. Created early in the 90's they guided the sounds of the big beat to the masses created dance icons with the likes of Fatboy Slim, Lo-Fidelity All-Stars, Hardknox, Freq Nasty, Bentley Rhythm Ace, and of course X-Press 2. Their current roster has that same pedigree. Sporting such talent as Goose, Kidda, Lucky Jim, Midfield General and my favorites of late Alloy Mental. I would like to focus now if I could on a new X-Press 2 Greatest Hits package from Skint called 'Raise Your Hands'. 18 years in the making this compilation showcases some of the most seminal house tracks ever recorded.

The smash hit from 02 'Lazy' featured the vocals of Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and was their biggest commercial success but the trio cut their teeth (and paid the bills) with the sounds of songs like 'AC/DC', 'Muzikizum', and 'Smoke Machine'. Traveling the globe several times over and with residencies at home and abroad they have a catalogue of music that dwarfs many others in the genre. I have a couple of cuts from the new compilation to share and they represent the past and future of the group. 'Smoke Machine' has a tribal effect on your brain as it builds steadily with a latent nuclear siren backin it all up. Its hard to believe that this was released in 2001. It has all the elements which define solid electro right now and its almost 7 years old. Unreal. 'Supsasong' is another straightforward house trotter with progressive elements which also has a crazed muted drop off followed by a machine gun synth re entry that speaks volumes about the trios smart picks for remixers. Which is performed by fellow Brit duo Soul Mekanik. Last but certainly not least is the new track from X-Press 2 called 'Fire'. This is set to blaze with vocals from the legendary hip hop producer/creator Afrika Bambaataa

To celebrate the release, X-Press 2 have teamed up with the Europe’s premier dance music download store Trackitdown.net to offer an exclusive remix competition for the new single.
The Competition will open on 7th July 2008 and will last for one month, allowing producers time to download the remix parts and weave their vision of the future. The winner, as judged by the expert content team at Trackitdown and X-Press 2 themselves, will win themselves a digital release on Skint as well as £100 worth of Sample Packs from Trackitdown.net.

Mr. Random

Welcome All. Tonight I give you something special. I have been tinkering with the notion of making an introductory post but instead opted for the much more effective route of the playlist. Now I am no newbie in the blog world(ok, yes I am) but in the 7 months I have operated my blog which shall remain nameless. shhhh! - I have learned a few things and had some fun along the way. I look forward to working with FJ and the rest of the crew here to keep you updated on everything cool that emerges.(in some cases before it emerges) In any case I got ya covered. So stay locked to Ohh! Crapp for the daily music updates and profiles. I even been told that FJ has new interviews in the works which I hope to participate in.

Cheers for now

Late Of The Pier

Adjacent to being ‘La Priest’, Samuel Eastgate juxtaposes his anomalous auditory through Late Of The Pier - the latest Nu-Rave blast whom secret powers are charged up with Erol Alkan’s magic tricks.

Common comparisons to 'Klaxons/Shitdisco/Metronomy’ generate from their knack for high budget videos, deliberate audio mayhem & over indulgence in synth.

Test the singles below & have a glance at the artwork of the awesomely-titled-full-length ‘Fantasy Black Channel’ – Due August 11th .

Les Friandises De Kitsuné!

You can accumulate a kilo or so by dusting that white powder off every Kitsuné Party leaving person’s nose & then sell it and buy a bunch of vinyls, or you can throw a brick at their headquarters main window and threat to burn down the building and magically some records will fall out FOR FREE!!

Kitsuné is such a to-grow-on-you releases releasing label, especially lately – a lot of the stuff they put out there on a hand drawn sleeve with a colored square tag or freak accident patient doesn’t sink in from the first listen and you only realize it’s value after you get what the exhibited artist is trying to draw.

So, here have a peek inside the goodies bag I won using method #2:

Jesper Mortensen, one half of Junior Senior, has decided to take a different approach to song craft on his new side project I Scream Ice Cream. Jesper defies the standard approach to songwriting by fleshing-out the most interesting aspects of pop music – including the punchy hooks that he is renowned for through Junior Senior -- within a dance track structure. In Ice Cream Ice Cream, Jesper showcases his skillful craftsmanship with a more improvisational hand, using drum machines, synths, percussion, vocals and loads of scratching to create a whole out of many smaller parts. And, ultimately, succeed in not playing by the rules.
DL: I Scream Ice Cream - Trust Tissue

Raw Man is Romain Séo one half of what was the French house duo known as ‘The Buffalo Bunch’ a group he formed with his friend Play Paul (aka Paul De Homem-Christo the brother of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo from Daft Punk)… Raw Man’s new music is attention catching rock-produced electro.

DL: Raw Man – Wargame

Gunn Crime, a huge club stormer built on Mancini’s infamous “Theme of Peter Gunn”. Stewart Rowell & Louis Gaston are otherwise known as the Streetlife DJs with over 30 years turntable experience between them, and a blatant disregard for music genres! “The rules are, there are no rules!” They add samples, accapellas & sound fx to the equation. Compliment that with some of the most cutting edge electronic dance and alternative and the result is something exciting and very refreshing. Gunn Crime is a from the “Theme of Peter Gunn” composed by Henry Mancini popularized in the 80’s with The Art of Noise feat Duane Eddy hit. Their interpretation is a huge dancefloor anthem which takes the amiably sloppy original theme and tightens it up, tweaking the tempo to suitably dancefloor-friendly proportions.

DL: Streetlife Djs - Gunn Crime (Original)

After all these years, Mark Moore has suddenly revived the S' Express moniker for a new release on Kitsuné. Quite why this acid house pioneer should attempt a career resuscitation now is unclear, 'Stupid Little Girls' is all rather current-sounding and produced with a peppy, bright finish that's entirely in keeping with the glossy Kitsuné fair you'd encounter from the label's younger contributors. Mark has collaborated with Kinky Roland Faber on this project while vocals are by the gorgeous Gene Serene.

DL: S'express - Stupid Little Girls (Original Mix)

Pin Me Down is British guitarist Russell Lissack (of the band Bloc Party) and Milena Mepris who met in New York City, when Mepris’s former band Black Moustache supported Bloc Party at the legendary Knitting Factory “Cryptic,” is their first single and an ode to modern pop culture and the unknown. The band was singled out and praised by the likes of NME, Dazed and Confused, Pitchfork Media, The Times (of London) and Drowned In Sound. Meshing influences from the 80s with a futuristic soundscape, Pin Me Down make dance music for rock kids, or “apocalyptic pop” as singer/songwriter/guitarist Milena Mepris likes to describe it.

Pnau Horrorised By Falke In Miami!

I swear i saw raised eyebrows of surprise on some friends's faces after reading 'ft. Ladyhawke' - flash news for them "this is not her first collaboration with the duo - go back to their album from their previous outfit TEENAGER". Anyhoo, Embrace have been one of my favourite tracks of the album & have been taking my mind off the barbeque-ing sun lazer-like beams through my trips home during my daily working hours break(noon time).

It's going to be the next single from Pnau & it's been remixed by Miami Horror & Fred Falke... i wouldn't have gotten myself fired if i knew this was coming.

Made In Japan!

Supposedly the text above translates to this:
A new generation electronic unit by YUTA KINOSHITA(22) and RYOSUKE KIMURA(22). Because violin, Ryosuke are classic with a piano Yuta the origin of each other's music, "class e cal" is born in 2007. To various drum rhythm by the ramming down of the PC, I bring about a feeling of new groove that, besides, is unique by playing two synthesizers at the same time and form original dance music.

But if you look closely at the Japanese text you’ll notice that they mentioned ‘Kitsune’ & ‘Shinichi Osawa’ – what I gathered & have concluded is:

• They are 2 Guys from Japan.
• They started the ‘Class E Cal’ project in 2007.
• They can play the Violin & Piano (Neither played on their tracks?????)
• They ram their productions with Drum Machine pre-set beats.
• They play 2 synthesizers at the same time to achieve a special groove.
• They released an awesome EP this year titled ‘X’.
• The main track is titled ‘X’ & it’s awesome.
• The awesome ‘X’ is remixed by the awesome ‘Kap10Kurt’.
• The awesome ‘Kap10Kurt’ remix massacres the original.
• It’s for the Synth Gen. (SymbolOne/Danger/Kavinsky).
• It’s not similar to the styles of the people mentioned above.
• It’s one of the awesomest to-be-played-loud trance-influenced synth tracks I’ve heard a while.

This album has been torturing me for being in that grey area between being a brilliantine approved entry and just a something-only-i-found-amazingly-brilliant – but the most scary part of describing Jevelen’s style is mentioning that he is in a way the Swedish equivalent of an electronic Prince (however dubious that might appear...).

Juvelen (Swedish for "Jewel") has a knack for creating dead-drop-straight-forward POP gems minus the cheese. The melodies are crystallized beyond belief in the most basic and uncompressed ways, it’s almost effortlessly & immediately absorbed from the chirps of the faux harps to the tinkling drops of diamonds sound, it exuberates with a frosty air of freshness & an everything-looks-beautiful-in-slow-motion-like ricochet.

The debut brings back the innocent joy of the real 90s pop but sculptures & cuts it clean with a 21st century laser intensity - though, what makes the debut '1’ an even case of Love or Hate is probably the ‘Muscles’ syndrome where some thought his vocals were the most horrible thing to hit the music industry while others embraced its artistic qualities – here Juvelen performs with an amazingly annoying low key sexy prince-purple-rain-era-like squeal that could either make it into your system or just shut it down.

Tracklist:
01. Don't Mess
02. Hanna
03. Baby,When You're Gone
04. They Don't Love You
05. Everytime
06. Watch Your Step
07. Money Don't Talk
08. Facts Of Life
09. A Dream
10. Summer-Spring

1 sums the insatiable Swedish pop scene in one record & going through these 10 tracks of infectious synthesizer heavy pop/slightly- r&b hybrid – all your smash hits/top of the pop days will come rushing back in flashes. Everyone from fans of Janet/Michael Jackson to George Michael to Hot Chip will appreciate this because it will make you dance with the biggest I-love-pop smile on your face.

Produced by Patrik Berger, who worked on Robyn's self-titled album.

It’s like drinking toxic fruit flavored liquefied jewels... Heart throbbing.

Let's Go Back, Waaay Back.... Again!

Mercurysss In Retrograde!

I used to like Bloc Party like a-lot but I never loved them – not that I’m comparing but I‘d rather listen to New Order than any of Bloc’s albums any day... well until a bunch of months ago when ‘FLUX’ invade the blogosphere & I prayed so hard that they will for whatever-reason-I-don’t-care they will take a more artificial direction and emphasis on electronics & drum machines.

Flux was a candy floss mediocre to me, a star in my pocket, a diamond on my iPod & I’m feeling there will a bunch of the likes in the future. The latest single ‘Mercury’ – is track that gives me visuals of a King Kong remake in space & surprisingly the track + the video doesn’t come short of any monkey business.

It was produced by Jacknife Lee and Paul Epworth (a.k.a Phones) & it will be released on the 11th of August 2008.

Remixes coming from Hervé (aka Count Of Monte Cristal aka Speaker Junk aka Dead Soul Brothers aka Joshua Harvey), CSS, Flosstrodamus & a B-side titled 'Idea For A Story'!

Trash, Glitter, Rats, Disco, Heels & Microphones!

If you look to the right panel you’ll notice that her album ‘Trash, Rats, & Microphones’ has been added to the brilliantine panel – here are the reasons why:

• Heloise sounds like Princess Superstar pretending to be The Gossip’s lead vocalist.
• They are signed to Elijah Wood’s (yes the star of Lord Of The Rings) label Simian.
• Heloise used to be Peaches’s bodyguard/driver.
• The band includes 2 dancers – whom job is to dance live.
• They are a ‘Melodic Punk’ band – indie sounding with a lot of cowbells & electronic elements & extremely danceable disco-like punk songs!
• It’s a band of many members but promotes itself as a 1 woman band.

DL: Heloise & The Savoir Faire - Illusions

*'Illusion' is the single - it's awesome - it's not even close to being the best track on the album!

Hloise & The Savoire Faire MySpace

Hot Chip's Ex Drummer Wants To Drive Your Car!

Grovesnor is the solo project from the ex. ‘Hot Chip’ drummer ‘Rob Smoughton’ (who I’m sure still speaks to his old band mates – specially since this single has been remixed by them) – ‘Drive In Your Car’ like the work of his ex band is completely electronic and celebrates synths like a celebrity scandal and borrows its heartbeats from drum-machines & its very evident 80s influence!

DL: Grovesnor – Drive Your Car
**Removed By Label's Request**

One of those songs that are awesomely off note!

Can you say F.I.E.R.C.E.?

Avant-garde pop, fashion and visual pioneer - human art project and shape shifting culture poet 'Grace Jones' (turning 60 soon) is releasing her first studio album in 20 years (she said she'll never do music until she's inspired & it took her 2 decades - that's how serious she is).

The first single is 'Corporate Cannibal' from the album 'Hurricane' - to be released on the 27th of October.

Tracklist:
"Corporate Cannibal"
"The Key to Funky"
"Hurricane"
"Devil in My Life"
"This Is Life"
"Love You to Life"
"William's Blood"
"Keeping Up with the Jones"

I'm sure Bjork will be the first in line to purchase it or she will probably pre-order it.

Dega Breaks All Night.

Dega Breaks is an english New Wave/Indie band from London - they say they sound like black and white disko punk, funk skag attacking the senses and bruised chords all over the place, think (Blondie, The Cure, Depeche Mode and Whitey) - I say think Editors/Delays with less macho-ness vocal-wise & more pop catchiness.

DL: Dega Breaks – All Night

Great energy on that one, definitely will be played during my night drives.

* the song has been remixed by Tronik Youth.

Dear Solace!

Just for being a fan of Justice, The Secret Handshake, Chromeo, La Riots, Daft Punk, Toxic Avenger, Spank Rock – it gives him the green light to be on my iPod. He’s a Canadian one man band - released an EP of 3 covers (cover songs – not 3 different artworks lol) all interesting in a different way + he’s selling 2 T-shirts which one of I‘m getting for myself!

Check out his electropop cover of ‘Message in a Bottle’ by The Police with beeps, bleeps, vocoders, glitter n all!

DL: Dear Solace - Message In A Bottle (The Police Cover)

If you liked it, I encourage you to purchase his EP (+ covers of Justin Timberlake & U2) & help him make enough $$$ to finish his first LP!

Super Mal vs. Lifelike!

Super Mal is Bandito Records owners Lyndon Coyne and James Crompton. Their artist name was inspired by the French cult film La Haine, referencing the expression “Super Cool”, but with a twist. Their music is influenced by old skool house, hip-hop, rock and electro but with a heavy dose of synthesizers.. to be honest, I wouldn’t really have noticed them if it wasn’t for the discopiliscized remix of their latest ‘Light Years’ by Lifelike – don’t get me wrong, the original is mighty fine for its own genre but once you listen to that Liflike remix you’ll be wondering why the original even exists!

DL: Super Mal - Light Years (Original)
DL: Super Mal - Light Years (Lifelike Remix)

Watch out for that bit with the bells in the Lifelike remix its epic!

Poney Poney Will Do BBYYY Justice!

Even with the fact of me knowing that this has been Blogged about to death since February (which is why I avoided doing so) I kept having the urge of saying something every time I play it on my iPod… & finally I realized it is just too good to not mention & besides I have to get it out of my system!

This could end up being a massive text-rich post or just a tiny one with the most important piece of text… and I’m going with the second.

Poney Poney is an Indie band from France (the land of Daft Punk & Justice) & below is their second single which is produced by Xavier de Rosnay of JUSTICE. It’s all there the start-stop-styled bass, Justice’s sharp sounding drum kit & their signature noise/distortion.

DL: Poney Poney – Cross The Fader

One of the best tracks of the year.

**Recently Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya added 2 new songs to their Mypace Player one of them is 90% going to be the next single (Before).. I’m saying this because on Poney Poney Remix Page they mentioned that they’re currently remixing (Before)!

DL: Bitchee Bitchee YaYaYa – Before

Yeah, I Know Your Hands Will Clap.

Well August 19th is the day when Lykke Li "Youth Novels" hits the States and things for this girl from Stockholm had never looked better. Lykki Li is now touring Europe and the United States with dates here and there, and recently Kleerup's album was released containing many collaborations one of them by this lady.

The video for "I'm Good I'm Gone" is really unique as her first one "Little Bit", making them visual & experiment experiences which contains the photography direction of Mattias Montero, a guy that has made really interesting commercials, short films and other music videos.
So you should grab Youth Novels as soon as you can, here i leave you some decent mash-ups that you might like it.

DL: Lykke Li - Beauty Flies (Lykke Li vs Gui Boratto)
DL: Lykke Li - I'm Good, I'm Ghost (Lykke Li vs Holy Ghost)
DL: Lykke Li - Dance, Dance, Dance In My Face (Lykke Li vs The Field)
DL: Kleerup ft. Lykke Li - Until We Bleed

Rarely Muscled!

Not a lot of people know that ‘Muscles’ actually been making music for a long time before he got signed to modular. His sound wasn’t necessarily focused on the style we came to loving/hating. One of the tracks form his pre-modular union is ‘Spirits’ a minimal dark soft thrash inspired track that sounds like a theme to a voodoo ritual in space, something completely different form the muscles we know.

DL: Muscles - Spirits

There were a number of independently released EPs (mostly sold at his shows) with lots of great material that are still unheard by a lot of his fans. You can see the list of the EPs here (though it’s almost impossible to get your hands on any at this point), luckily I snatched myself a copy of the ‘Hyperpop!’ EP from eBay last year - below is 2 tracks from it.

DL: Muscles – White Coat
DL: Muscles – Hyperpop Anthem

Other tracks on Hyperpop! are (Indie Volcano/Do You Mean It/Dolphin Licks) - If anyone has any of the other EPs please contact me.

2 People Can Make a Band That Isn't a Band!?

There isn't much to be learned about this duo band, because there isn’t much info about them anyway... not even on their MySpace (which is a treat to look at all the pink + the artwork for the EP is awesome in a Jentina bad-ass-strippa losing yummy body fluid way).

Electronic music from france (we are all familiar with this type) – fans of Tronik Youth will dearly appreciate this track in particular.

DL: Just A Band – We Are

EP also contains [Walk On Down/AARGHH!!!] both more on the distorted/noise side & a remix of We Are by The Shoes where they donated few more words to the lyrics.

Just A Band remixed Tom Deluxx, Alex Gopher & Thieves Like Us. The remixes can be found on Hypem (work your magic) – the duo band is currently working on their second EP to be released in September.

Good Weirdness, Kinda.

Hey Today! consist of two Germanies who during their renovated style era only released 1 track (through Kitsune of course). They like Thomas Bangalter & make guttural, hard-stomping music which in this case sounds like a parody of Bobmo’s style with lots of comic honks and cheap retro Bollywood movie sound effects (as synth) on a body that hints at a steamwork factory use as a location for recording.

DL: Hey Today! - Walk Through

They used to be ‘Trashtalk’ and they released a track ages ago titled ‘Tank Girl’ but the change to ‘Hey Today!’ came after the decided they wanted to try something different and develop their new style and choose a different path.

The release is backed with a remix by Isi-talim who is (obviously) Isi of Digitalism.

*I'm sure i included the Isi-talism remix on one of the Monster Mixtapes.. Maybe?

Copy Cold Cut Youth.

Long story short: Uk version of the stunning album 'In Ghost Colours' includes a bonus track titled 'Cold Youth' & it's very Architectures In Helsinki/Clear Static in a Cut Copy way.

DL: Cut Copy - Cold Youth

Click-clacky and nice but not better than anything on the album.

CC: This Album = Remix Album

A mysterious page has appeared on Wikipedia, claiming there will be a Remixed Crystal Castles Album of sort but the source appears to be a mystery.

Here’s what the dodgy page says:

“This is the untitled remix album which exact details have yet to be confirmed. Remixes from such artists as David Wolf, Nuklear Dungeon and HEALTH are expected.”

Wikipedia will remove the page on the 8th of July - unless some facts surface.

On the other hand, the next Crystal Castles single will be Vanished & that’s a confirmed fact.

**Really hope the Remix album rumor turns out to be true. Fingers crossed.

Same Old New Scene!

Despite the humidity, dust, dryness, heat, parched lips, skin burns, hair frizz/damage & sweat - summer is a mighty fine season for it brings the freshest releases & makes once again listening to albums from summers gone by possible again!

Not many records have survived the entire plays overtime on this side of the screen except for CICADA – turns out the more you play it the better it gets. Ever since I purchased their debut in summer 2006 (only because I thought the cover was nice), there has never been another summer without it playing loudly from my room. This band seriously makes some of the best pop sounding progressive electro house on the planet & throughout their career each and every remix they put out for people like Depeche Mode, New Order, Editors & Lorraine made it into my top remixes lists at its time.

I have immense admiration and respect to their work, because it fixes my mood in ways only legends like Air could do.

There haven’t been any new materials by them until recently when they announced they’re working on their second full length & released ‘Same Old Scene’ – Yep it’s a Roxy Music cover & they did a mighty fine job with it!

DL: Cicada - Same Old Scene

You can purchase it from Beatport with remixes by Klaus Hill, Henrik B., & Cicada themselves.

If you don’t know them or didn’t know they had an album – then I seriously recommend you to go and buy it (even if from a used records store). You’ll be thanking me for making your lazy summer lounging experience a million times better.

Lush Lush Lush.. All i can say.

Crunchy Chocolate Cookies!

Wait... before you switch your smart-ass ignition on & proceed in lecturing me about how Chewy Chocolate Cookies are semi-old-news by now, I jus want to say 'I Know' - The reason why I kept avoiding typing words bout them is because I wasn't convinced with their sound until yesterday.

You see their name is Chewy Chocolate Cookies but that doesn't necessarily mean their music should be munchy – I guess you should be in some precise mood to be able to appreciate their noise makings. Their sound could be as hard as a bowling ball & will cause you to chip your tooth if you weren’t ready for it... it’s kind of a music that you’d value when your brain tells you it’s is time to listen to tracks like Justice’s Stress, Soulwax’s I Love Techno, & Daft Punk’s Brainwasher (& that’s exactly what happened to me last night).

The EP contains three track, the first is the harshest ‘Time’ which we all were introduced to the CCC through and then there’s ‘Profondo Rosso’ that sounds like a Knightlife/SMD mash-up made by Lifelike (in other words - th softest on the EP) & finally my favorite ‘Cheeseburgers’ which alarms to one of the best lines I’ve heard in a while I see cheeseburgers everywhere, they’re flying over me, they’re saying… EAT ME EAT ME EAT ME.

DL: Chewy Chocolate Cookies – Cheeseburgers

Head over to their MySpace and download remixes of Digitalism, Feadz, Justice, the Chemical Brothers, Simian Mobile Disco, Chromeo, DJ Mehdi & More (for free)!

Buy their EP, It's absolutely worth it! - Ohh & check out this awesome interview our friends at Trashbag Kids have landed!

Midnight Juggernauts Imprisoned In Turkey!

Incase you missed this, the US version of the abum included one exclusive bonus track, which is a remix, which is downladable below, which i couldn't trace or find anything regarding who 'Tturkish Prison' could be, which doesn't matter because this remix is dystopically dancable.

Averting Catastrophe

The planet falling from an high , sparkle as they're falling, through the twilight sky.. Dystopia.

Well, seems that the human misery, poverty, oppression, violence, disease it’s here more than ever, and well, Midnight Juggernauts Dystopia resumes it, in a good way i mean, that turns better if we said that has been remixed for the one and only Cut Copy.

While Midnight Juggernauts are having a second length tour in Europe after their outstanding Glastonbury appearance, Cut Copy had put their personal print into Dystopia in a new way like no one can do.
And while there isn't any confirmed information on which song will be their next single, Dystopia had exploded into the Blog scene.

DL: Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (Cut Copy Remix)

Also as their EP is released all over the planet, they made some kind of a trailer to promote it. So if you wanna catch up the band in a live act you can log onto their official site to see the dates of their summer tour.

And talking about Cut Copy don't forget to check out the new T-Shirts line by Modular Records, they are sparkles but Jesus! they are expensive too.

Interview: TEENAGERSINTOKYO!

Left to right: Sophie McGinn (Guitar), Linda Marigliano (Bass), Samantha Lim (Vocals), Miska Mandic (Keyboard), Rudy Udovich (Drums).

There are a few bands that sounds live as awesome as on cd and have a charismatic visuality atthe same time - Teenagersintokyo is one of those bands that has a hidden telepathic message in their music demanding to be loved and not just liked. I'd seriously rather watch them fully covered Afghanistan-style rather than the whole cast of Bay Watch (in their original from-back-in-the-day shape) naked.

There's a lot of energie to their music and all the shouting just makes it better (make sure you owna cpy of the selftitled EP)!

I the interview below we kept the seriousness aside & had a go at goofing around with Miska (Mishka) & Sam (Samantha) while keeping somefacts intacts for the sake of not being mistaken for neanderthals. Enjoy the Quickie!

START.

Brifly before anything… You’re not Teenagers and you’re not form Tokyo? What are we missing?

Miska: Like most band names, it was something stupid we came up with without thinking that somewhere down the line we’d be getting asked “gee, how’d you come up with that little gem?”

I like how you’re fooling everyone by keeping the details of the new video shoot all hush hush and saying you’re doing that to prevent it from being spoiled! When the truth is, the concept is very dangerous and you don’t want blood on your hands if something “ACCIDENTLY” goes wrong? I heard Miska gets cut in half - & I heard you have a bunch of cement sacks, a bundle of scotch-tape, 5 cartoon network (power puff girls) plasters and a box of organic bubblegum.. I’m trying not to be nostalgic but what if all that didn’t fix her again? Who will she be replaced by?

Samantha: How do you know everything?? In truth Kris Angel was involved, he is the brains behind the whole concept for the video and it’s truly an original work of his vision and talent. It’s only natural, should Miska not be able to continue her work in the band, that she be replaced by him. We felt it was a natural progression for him and we welcome him with arms wide open (both physically and through the use of Creed as our backing track). p.s. I LOVE YOU MISKA!

Miska: I went to a Creed concert once… Oh no wait, I’m thinking of some other terrible Christian ‘rock’ band.

But Is the video for a song we already know or is it for a newly recorded one that hasn’t been released yet?

Miska: It’s for a song you already know AND have already seen a video for. Hmmm. We did a visual redux of End it Tonight to unleash in Europe when we release the single in a couple of months. And yes, everything you heard above about Kris Angel is true. Rumour has it, he also co-wrote the original track.

WOw! I also heard the Very Vampyr 7" single sold out like free toothbrushes at an anorexia club and some lucky people got a signed one or even one kissed by Rudy! Isn’t that bad for you? You don’t know what people could do with DNA samples, next thing you’ll find a Rudy clone running around town doing god knows what, ruining his reputation… or even worse a label can create an army of clones and sell Rudys to bands who need a good drummer!?

Samantha: Is there a target market for this? If so, then yes, we admire your proposition and shall begin production immediately. Otherwise, it’s just nice to know that people still buy music let alone records. And buying ours, even better for us and our eating requirements.

...Another item being traded for cash under your name is the Very-Vampyr-style gold foil dentures – I heard they were actually found among the clatter of glitter-stickers-covered instruments, under-lit jars of gummy bears, Venom lip thickening tubes, neon microphones, a huge pile of stolen designer shoes next to a broken wall mounted scorpions farm and jewel crusted Ex boyfriends skulls in your studio… plus your artworks are fleshy in a cannibalistic way... were they weapons incase you got into a brawl with New Young Pony Club?

Miska: That is an amazing pile of junk. I WISH we had that stuff at our studio. All we have are stupid instruments and tambourines and shit. WTF? But yes, Vampire dentures. Very classy. Good for picking up. If anyone out there is reading this, please buy some.

Who’s responsible for your nifty scientifically vulgar artwork anyways?

Samantha: That would be our dear little bear, Miska.

Miska: Vulgar?

LOL, I’m not very bright when it comes to math but…

[1 Guy + 4 Gals = A Lot Of Speculations]

Exactly what kinds of conversations are triggered away from the prying ears & what fun stuff do you all do in your so-tight-free-time? Have you ever caught Rudy jerkin off or watching porn – do you get him involved in your girlie activities & talks?

Miska: If I knew what exactly was implied by “girlie activities n talks” I could answer this question properly, but as it stands, I’m just going to reveal that yes, he talks about porn sometimes, no I’ve never seen him jerking off (THANK GOD) and yes we’ve seen him wearing girls panties.

(Intresting...! Hmmm...) lol.. Anyhoo, Congrats on the adoption! Back Yard is one of the killingest independent labels around - does this mean the promotional future will definitely, certainly, positively, unquestionably, absolutely, undeniably, and affirmatively withhold batches of remixes to dance to and to love?

Samantha: We’re very excited about joining the Back Yard family. We liken the experience to finding something that you always knew you wanted but never had. As for remixes we’re keeping our lips sealed, but if you’re good at the internet you can find out that we’ve already released two killer remixes of Robocat. One by the lovely Yama from Damn Arms under his G.L.O.V.E.S. guise and the other by Sydney production/dj duo/local idols The Knife Machine.

What about the album, is there one in the making? Producers you talked to? Solid facts? Is there a Demo disc full of new materials somewhere on this planet? Tell us what there is to tell at this point.

Miska: Yes to all of the above. We’re just in the process now of writing some new material and working with Back Yard to figure out who we should get on board to produce our next release. It’s a pretty intense period. We’re all juggling our lives and working hard to write music that inspires us and that we can be proud of. It’s a hard thing to do sometimes. But yes, THER WILL BE NEW SONGS. Fingers crossed we won’t ever need to do another video for End it Tonight again.

*Crosses Finges*... I’m sure that besides admiring and counting your Pokemon trading cards every day, you guys listen to music made outside your studio… So, each one of you name your newest favorite track or remix & explain why? (Notice that I’m not deliberately and indirectly leading you to create a mini playlist).

Samantha: Alison by SLOWDIVE – this is the opening track off their second album, Souvlaki, which for some reason went missing from my computer. The track recently found it’s way back to me and I’ve been lushing out ever since. I love this band, truly, madly, deeply.

Shadows (M83 remix) by MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS – It’s mad how M83 take this track in a completely different direction to the Jugegrnauts. It’s so unexpected, but it works so well.

Highly Evolved by THE VINES – this one goes out to Miska. Highly Evolved. Highly Evolved.

Miska: Thanks Sam. Good hustle. Mine are:

Flashing Lights KANYE WEST – ammmazing song. So simple, so effective. Sometimes what you leave out is just as important as what you put in.

Kids MGMT – Makes me want to dance every time.

Golden Brown STRANGLERS – Linda always makes me the best mixed CDs. In the last one she re-visited this brilliant song. Thanks Linda.

Now before you go, I really didn’t want to say anything about this, but the guilt is eating me and decaying is not a great feeling. Oh god, here it goes… last year around February, I saw Crystal Castles & Justice in the alley behind the club you were playing at and they were looking all suspicious & on that same day 10 shirts (worth of 150$) were stolen from you… I’m just saying. I mean what could they be doing there at that time?

Miska: Whow.

Whow.

Fuck. I can’t believe you didn’t bring this up before.

...Sam, please get me my rubber gloves and for gods sake wear the raincoat this time.

END.

This Remix is UNFINISHED!

I'm sure this being #13 (last time i checked) on Hypem's popular tracks page means you already have it or heard or heard someone talk about it (as usual with all Miami Horror remixes) - apparently Modular leaked the remix to Discobelle even though it's not finished!

Here's the log from my chat with Ben (Miami Horror)

me: Ey Yo!
Ben: hello
me: Wanted to say, great job on the PRESETS rmx! Didn't see that one coming.
Ben: DUDE!what? its not finished... pleae tell me you dont have it
me: wtf? discobelle spread it already
Ben: FUCKKKK. its not finished, at all.
me: u serious... sounds finished and awesome. popular track on hypem!its #13.
me: OMG u r not kidding? but wait... how did discobelle get it?>
Ben: modular
me: but why would they leak it if it was supposed to be an official remix?
Ben: i went overseas and I didnt get to finish it, and ive been trying to do it here
and they wanted it but I couldnt finish it.
me: it sounds perfect though :S
Ben: thanks but it might not work in a club, its over compressed.
Ben: but its my fault because i didnt finish it in time and they wanted to release it

me: is it ok if i clear out this mixup on my blog? explain it..
Ben: huh? yes please, I am trying to do the new version asap but havent been able to get my external HD to show up on other windows machines... well it loads as empty have you had any experience with that?

.... the rest of the conversation is technical chit chat bullshit.. but you get the situation.. soo umm yeah! It's not the final version.

Glass Mirrors

We have a new track ready to drop on your asses this week.

It is called I Want Eurotrash.
We have been playing it out for some time now and think it is time you heard the finished version.
You may even hear Bag Raiders play it in their set at Eurotrash in Melbourne this week... but you did not hear that from me.

We would love some feedback.
If anyone would like the mastered version of the track let me know and I will send you the link.
Go to our myspace to check out a sample.

STREETPARTY!

Here is a little bit of info on the Streetparty crew from Melbourne.

Currently Streetparty runs Dumplings @ Eurotrash, Pogo @ Geddes Lane, Fashion Keyboard @ Escobar, WOW @ Geddes Lane. Streetparty regularly tourts internationals, recent examples being Futurecop (UK), Le Castle Vania (US) and Krazy Baldhead (FRA).
Streetparty also runs parties at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, so if you're up there go get felt up by those cats.

Here are a few words on some of the DJs that make these nights so fucking cool.

DJ Streetparty

DJ Streetparty heads up the Streetparty collective of cool, having supported many big names as a DJ, and run many sucessful club nights, Streetparty lives upto his name and likes to make kiddies partypartyhardhard!

Tranterco
You should all know Tranter as the big dude from Gameboy/Gamegirl, who's portly size hides an even bigger talent. As madfreshfuncoolhipstercat DJ, Tranter has played so much awesomeness around M-Town that I think i may possibly ejaculate just thinking about it...
errr yes... As the male MC for Gameboy/Gamegirl he is touring around Europe and the world, getting naked and getting bitches.
Ooh-ee
A local Melbourne DJ who's impossible skills behind the decks remind me of a Dexter or even a Craze... Ooh-ee has also got some serious production skills to boot, working with locals Loot and Tranterco, and also completing some productions and remixes of his own, most recently his original Traveller and his remix of Santogold. His Serato sets are making waves across town, and are let's face it, pretty damn cool.

Yacht Club
These two guys Gaz and Guy play crazy sets of mashup infused disco allsorts.
Showing impressive skills behind the decks these cats make me wet plain and simple.

Soccer Mum DJs
Three Sisters doing it for themselves and making the party fun again. These girls rock out harder than most...

I will feature more Streetparty DJs and news in upcoming posts.
But for now partypartyhardhard!

V is for Vagina!

"Van She have just hit us in the back of the head with a two by four mixtape, a sturdy 49 minute 36 second knockout that features tracks off their forthcoming album, some of their own remixes and a selection of their favourite club rubs." -Modular

DL: Van She Mixtape

Their debut album, V, is coming out August 9 but you can pre-order it today from here.

Also recently they made their own Van She Tech remix of their atest single 'Strangers' available for free download.

The Presets Horrorised By Miami!

I don't know if my highlight of the day was dipping banana slices in milk chocolate fondue and cookies crumb or blasting this remix with the 'Repeat' button on. The stutterical track got the bass-thick synth treatment with 8-bit-esque sprinkles all over... certified to light your superhero costume on fire.

Ben i love you for this!

Tee #1

So I'm basically just going to present to you a tee that i've found during the week that I personally would like to buy.. and would encourage you to buy... and the fact that the model is smoking hot, contributed to 60% of this weeks choice.

A shirt from Dim Mak's latest collection. Drawing inspiration the one and only fashion icon Twiggy, Steve Aoki teams up with the Dim Mak crew to create Dim's latest installment which has been described as "diverse pieces reflecting pop-culture/socio-political discontent".

I know you have high expectations..

I can't offer you enlightenment. Not the kind Faisal has with the last 13 updates. But what I can offer you is this - sticky, dirty, pop.

DL: Hot Chip - Wrestlers (Sticky Dirty Pop Mix) [direct link]

So it's the 1st of July and my internet is finally back to full functionality. I had 238 unread items in my Google reader. One of which was from Sundtrack; featuring a nice little remix of Frankmuzik's "Three Little Words" courtesy of Damage. (not to be mistaken for Danger)

DL: Frankmusik - Three Little Words (Damage Remix Radio Edit) [direct link]

"June 16th, Citizen Records produced Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock’s EP “Summerized” by German pair Monosurround. The Cocked Locked original EP was released in 2006 and now the label releases it again, although, with re-edited track in two other versions and a great remix by Fukkk Offf."
