Paper Works!

If Jonas & Francois hypothesis and perceptions of made-up-from-scratch brilliance wasn't an enough motive to go on sezurical rampage every time they fume one of their productions into the stratosphere in a form of signals, static, ones and zeros... this time grabbing art business by the raw balls as the tag team have been painstakingly inking our fellow cockney rhyming frenchie 'Flairs' onto 3000 hand-drawn frames to psychedelically shift shape him in what could only be called 'Original' music video of his bass jitter and electro affair single 'Better Than Prince'.

Some serious Micky Mouse magic!

...& I Thought They Didn't Want To Be Saved!

My one of favorite underrated-mainstrem-ish-indie-bands Lorraine return on 19th May with a brand new single "When I Return To The World".

The single is backed with a brand new track 'Beyond Sky', plus a remix package from current club darlings The Camel Rider and Manhattan Clique.

DL: Lorraine - When I Return To The World

The band will finally release their debut album, tentatively entitled "Pop Noir", later this summer.

Flairs! Flairs! Flairs! Flairs! Flairs!

Ranking Mr. Lionel Flairs somewhere in the top 3 positions of my favorite new artists list is not only based on originality, my love for the sound of bass, & the fact that 'Better Than Prince' & 'Truckers Delight' rawks... I'm sure about it because i was priviligded to be one of the few lucky people who got to listen to the flairs album months ago & i assure you when it out you'll be able to experience a live gig sound blended with electropop right through your speakers.

I'm really proud of the interview i did with him back in January which led to a sort of a honory long-distance-friendship! Anyhoo... he also recently did this brilliant video interview with 'The Art Pac/Fat Cat Films' where you'll see him talk'n'play and get to know a bit more about him!

** Past the middle part of the interview one of my favorite tracks from the album will be playing in the background, i can't reveal the title but i'll hint 'Shape Gender' lol.

Here are some recent updates from the man himself:

"The video's here! I've seen it last tuesday, it's foooooooookin cool, I cannot wait to send you the link when it's online (should be middle of next week.....)!"

"So far the 12" 's sold out, so we're pressing another 1000 when the video's out...."

"I'm flying to Bangcock/Thailand for some gigs in early May!"

And here's his reaction to the DVNO video post:

"ha ha ha , read your blog today, the DVNO thing, same as DANCE was not totally made by SoMe.....He only gave a few drawings, and the guys from machine molle (www.machinemolle.com //// soft machine in english) did most of the idea & motion 3d stuff which is pretty amazing... That's what really pisses me off with SoMe, is that he always ends up saying "I DID THIS VIDEO" when he did 10% of the foookin job.... (he did exactly the same for We Are Your Friends and D.A.N.C.E.) But I agree , he rocks !"

Plimsouls

I've been hankering to post about Bristol based Plimsouls for an age, but what with the festive season, essays and exams, the pleasure's not been mine. Anyway, it's not like he needed my approval. Having already gained endorsements from Palms Out and Discobelle (among others), my opinion seems almost academic. Nonetheless, I feel I should give my two cents worth.

At just 19 (yup, you read right) Plimsouls may be considered something of a child prodigy. Refreshingly, unlike many of his contemporaries, he has chosen not to follow the bass heavy, Justice/Ed Banger sound so prevalent in the genre right now.

New track, Version keeps things moody and minimal. This kid like Techno? Check out the bouncy keyboard riff. Straight outta '89.
