Bloc Party 'Intimacy'

Clusterous & sight stealing like a feathered glitter dress on a muscular drag queen, 'Intimacy' is bricks raining clouds bruising and sharp pencil ear wax picking hazardous as much as it is balls hugging new underwear fresh & feel-good inducing. Kudus to Paul Epsworth (Phones) & Jacknife Lee for their nuclear electrickery & laser sliced vocal manipulations because not only this 10 tracker have restored my previously gone astray fan-hype for the band, but re-customized them to fit my what-if-they-experimented-more wonders.

Last year when Flux hit the facets of Blogs I said to myself "If this is the Nu direction then I'm sold", & it was only weeks ago that 'Mercury' substantiated the prophecy when it revoked my taste buds for live monkey brain scooping with its mechanic drum machine roar & ill-omened ripping peril horns. One listening session of 'Intimacy' & you'll be going 'Kele Okereke should have a superhero movie made based on his character & soundtrack it with this record'!

In oppose to 'Silent Alarm' being reputed as a classic to some fans and who's not, I think 'Intimicay' is my pick off the discography for it's experimental dare & balance between texturous force & heart-melting lullabied harmonies. It's not all D&B-Breakcore-Jungle simulating thuds and punches, the ballads are present & the traditional 'Helicopter' originality is still evidently tangible.

It's a seamlessly successful amalgamation of clattery thunderous machine power with Bloc Party's pos-punk revival signatures & balladry intimacy.

Their best album to date.

Though I always have to re-read your posts a second time to make sure that I'm getting it right, I couldn't agree more. It's an amazing album that really hits exactly where they want it to. Brilliant.
