I have been hella busy over the last few days(ok I'm lying -I've been golfing) but the fact of the matter is I still love you all out there and have a nice WKND assortment for you. I was contemplating doing a bunch of separate posts but opted instead for a super post so here goes.
First up is the wonderfully dark house world of San Frans Kaskade working with Ontario Canada native Deadmau5, Pottymouth's Santiago and Bushido expertly cut this one into a steady roller repeato with washed out female vocals that augment the quiet banger mentality present here. Chicago's Pottymouth also have the talents of Klaus Hill, James Amato, Heavyfeet, The Bulgarian, Hijack and DJ Fame.BIO:
Screw soap the mouth; the brand of jack that defines Chicago's new-school house sound gets a tech-heavy makeover from the talent roster of Potty Mouth Music. Inspired by the dirty glitch twists of fidget house producers such as Switch, Trevor Loveys and Jesse Rose, Potty Mouth ditches conventional house boundaries, imploring turntable trickery, unconventional loops and straight up techno into its catalogue of tracks. Chicago-based label head James Amato keeps house-heavy influences in place and lacing them with the kind of dirty glitch that makes it feel so good to be so bad. Potty Mouth's artists include Crookers (Italy), Santiago & Bushido (Chicago), Hijack (UK), Dj Fame (New York), The Bulgarian (UK), Heavyfeet (UK), Cops & Robbers (Chicago), Electric Soulside (Belgium), Andy George (UK), Scott Cooper (UK), Klaus Hill (Australia), Mightyfools (Netherlands), Adam Bozzetto (Australia), Alias (Toronto), Chris James & Lee Dearn (UK), Urchins (UK) and Pette Vaydex (Ljubljana, Slovenia)
DL : Kaskade feat Deadmau5 - Move For Me (Santiago & Bushido mix)
After having just released his 'Kick 'n Run EP the other week and also applying some pretty cherry touches to the Young MC tracks for RMXXOLGY the frenchman they call Rimini has finished up a new mix(because he had so much free time!)DL : Don Rimini - Kick 'n Run Mix July 2008
Next up is a major buzz saw face melter from Vancouver's Felix Cartal. As far as I'm concerned there is no good reason why I shouldn't fly out Van city to see this maniac producer/DJ. I am a slacker. This track is sooooo good that if someone remixes it I hope they have a pedigree better than God because this is perfect proggy electro.DL : Felix Cartal - L'Amour
Something else wicked this week was the new remix of Buraka Som Sistema by you guessed it Hot Chip. It makes me so happy to see this kind of single remixing and artist collaborations. It can only mean stronger tracks and more options for the original artist upon releasing and EP for sale. Exposing electro heads to indies and vice versa.DL : Buraka Som Sistema - Kalemba (Hot Chip remix)
Hip Hop soul r'n'b diva Estelle maintains my love of the true r'n'b flavour that is sorely lacking in North American acts. They always miss the motown that I love. The original of this one feels like a new song by Wham/George Michaels a la 'Faith' without the 80's gayness. After Treasure Fingers is done playin around we once again have another remix that stays true to the funkyness of the original and builds on top of it a beautiful synth overlay that makes a lazy summer anthem out of this already popular radio smash.DL : Estelle - No Substitute Love (Treasure Fingers mix)
