Alex Gopher is a true artist whom success gets measured in miles; this is the guy who over a decade ago formed the band ‘Orange’ consisting of himself, Nicolas Godin, Jean-Benoit Dunckel, & Xavier Jamaux… you definitely know Nicolas & Jean-Benoit because later they formed the legendary duo ‘AIR’. After that, Gopher started an underground label with ‘Etienne De Crécy’ & they released a VA comp’ titled ‘Super Discount’ consisted of exclusively done tracks for it featuring the most hyped about artists in the electronic scene at its time, it was rewarded with a massive success demanding a sequel & that’s what they did a few years later… but after ‘Super Discount 2’ they stopped, later he was asked by Yves St. Laurent to create 3 tracks for his catwalk show but Gopher ended up with 10 & decided to release them all as an album titled ‘Wuz’; In late 2006 ‘Alex Gopher’ released his astonishing New Order-vs-AIR-like indie rock self titled album (Re-released with bonus tracks in 2007) & if you’ve been around Ohh! Crapp… for the past month (beside leeching) you’d know that my latest obsession ‘Flairs’ who played bass for Alex is having his album & single mixed with the golden hands of Gopher (Who is a fan of Flairs himself)!

His latest & first release in 2008 ‘Aurora’ is still unclear whether it’s a comeback single or just a standalone 12” to add up to his discography but let me tell you, Aurora is a luminous phenomenon that consists of streamers or arches of light appearing in the upper atmosphere of a planet's magnetic polar regions and is caused by the emission of light from atoms excited by electrons accelerated along the planet's magnetic field lines & on that magnetic field floats black unicorns bleeding million ink drops from their eyes that crystallizes before piercing our delicate skulls & settling into our brains turning us into glass… Aurora is cosmic & ominous, rich with compressed electronic static, hidden keys, light flashes sounds, chilled claps, alarming synths, overcharged hit & run beats, & even a jaded version of the revolutionary Justice ingredient ‘Distortion’!
