Between all the rich & spoiled kids wandering La La land pursuing their music dreams with papa’s dough & blind trust in cash-in producers pops ‘Troy This’ a flamboyant chap armed with looks, money, love for music & a man-lolita sexy voice!
I really don’t know much about him at this point, but his music speaks clearly and articulately in his behalf… he’s the bastard child of urbanism & digitalism, a mixture of electro soul & amusing pop rock. His music awakes a lot of memories from the “Tape” days & his sex-dosed vocals & original music virtually resurrects moments only Janet Jackson could pull off successfully, like on the TV-Ad-Esque “Hit The Dirt” & Rugrats-theme-like naïve tropical rock “America Dream (Happy Song)” makes the cheesy fashionable again. There’s even a demo titled “Slap Kiss Beautiful Later” that could easily be mistaken for a “Michael Jackson & Darren Hayes” early unreleased duet session! But don’t get carried away with the comparisons here as it’s just merely a point out to a style or an era, ‘Troy This’ music has that ambiance that makes you feel familiar with his tracks when listening to, like you’ve been playing it since you were a kid & that’s rare.

Now his MySpace info suggest influences that goes back to the 60s while his music could only take you as far as the early 90s & I’m happy to say that him floating around from studio to studio, friend to friend, & bed to bed is paying off.
It’s still early to predict but if ‘Troy This’ keeps the deviant tidiness nature of his songs on track then we might experience the goodness of the 90s mainstream all over again in the post millennium. It’s good as long as he’s doing it willingly, once this falls in the hands of a major label it will turn into garbage.
Update:_____________________________________________
Text above the line goes back to January 2008, it's May 2009, he's preparing some stuff with a Major label & I'm glad to see the quality hasn't dropped down!
Happy Song is now re-recorded with backing vocals from Robyn & he sent in another 80s inspired synthpop track that will tickle the fancy of some La Roux fans.

Is it wrong that Sam Sparro comes to mind?
