Shi-Ni-Chi-O-Sa-Wa!
New full-length album from Shinichi Osawa (aka Mondo Grosso) marks his first release on the Avex label and his first release under his real name! Shinichi has been active producing/remixing for international artists like "Digitalism, Bunny Lake, Mighty Dub Katz, & Boys Noize" among others, while continuously working on solo project "TheOne" under his real name.
His parties boast the top attendance in the country. Whereas he produces melodious, acoustic sound as a composer, producer, as remixer/DJ he provides “ill” and crazy club sound. Self-proclaimed “Multi-Musical Personality”.

While listening to the album i started making notes for each song so i could use them to write a review, but then i realized these notes are actually helpful!! It does the album description justice... so here are my notes for the album track by track:

The 12 tracks album (14 in japan) are just pure electronic goodness with an obvious dabs of indie rock attitude & oozes with influences by some of my favorite artists! So here are the notes:

01. Star Guitar (ft. Au Revoir Simone)
Echoed vocals, airy guitar & clutchy bassline. could easily be mistaken for a “Junkie XL” song from his "Today" era.

02. Detonator (ft. Princess Superstar)
WOW, if music was heard visually then you'd probably see princess superstar turning into a t-rex throwing a rampage tantrum, chomping everything in sight in style. One of the strongest tracks on the album with the coolest darkly concentrated sharp loud electronic body.

03. Electro411
“Boys Noize” with a techno twist, in a parallel world uma thurman would play this at her assasin yoga class, & it even has a piece of bedwin music near the end (not necessarily a nice touch).

04. Our Song (ft. ULTRA BRAiN)
Has that indie bands authentic style like the one from “Digitalism” song “Pogo” (at some parts) but softer. Summer song. & again “Junkie XL” like music.

05. Dreamhunt (ft. Rubies)
Sounds like a "New Young Pony Club" song produced by “Jamiroquai”, distorted & progressive, a feel good song, vocals are amazing & will make you wish you can sing along form the first play. + "I'm looking for love" line just melts the heart. this one is just pure joy and brilliance, probably the most appealing song to the mainstreamers.

06. Push (ft. Ania)
Hot vocals, sounds like daft punks "technologic" on tiny parts (lyrically), perfect for runways, i can totally see models strutting down the catwalk to this, It just reeks with ego & attitude. Stops in the middle for a beat break. The contagious chorus "push a little bit louder yeah, push a little bit stronger, push a little bit harder yeah, push a little bit faster" will get locked in your brain and u will end up whoring to it endlessly..

07. Rendezvou
The most annoying song on the record with chopped & repeating vocal shards making no sense, like a Mexican mariachi band stuck in traffic. random, loud & not one of the easy to get into (will have to grow on you- the hard way) before you realize its a great song. But still it sounds like a mash-up gone bad at some points.

08. The Patch
After a chaotic storm like "rendevouz" u will definitely want to slow it down a bit & get your state-of-mind back to normal, “The Patch” is more of a 2:33min intermission than a song. The piano & strings are mesmerizing, relaxing with a spacious melody, reminds you of those interludes when u go to a concert and the artist leaves for a break/change his outfit.

09. Last Days
Acoustic in the beginning, “Junkie XL” like guitar riffs & beat, & a “Calvin Harris” like bassline/distortion from 3:31 till the end. Nice after a few plays. (Same description from "our song" applies to this) except this one is a bit boring. Not that crazy about it.

10. State of Permission (Co-produced & ft. Freeform Five)
Co-produced & featuring "Freeform Five", the way its sung reminds me of “Gwen Stefani” ballads, med tempo & great! You will like it. The only soft-semi-slow song on the whole record.

11. Foals (ft. Nelson)
Blend of “The Presets”, “Soulwax” & “The Rapture” but not densely.

12. The Golden
Cowbells like hell, jumpy jingly, evil, techtronic, dialtonic & funky, it even has a piece of “The Go! Team” like cheerleading shout pronouncing the song title “The Golden” few times. Strong, progressive. Belongs in a video game. Groovy. Influenced by “Touche”, “Alavi” & “Teenage Badgirl”. The best instrumental track on the album, a perfect encore.

One of the greatest records this year!

We Firmly Stick To The Remixes!
Another batch of remixes to get you through the week, consider them your new sticker sheet, decorate whatever!

Teddybears stuffing one of the most popular songs in history with dial tones, rock-steady bassline & a wormy beat "Ahh-haah-haah-aah Stayin' Alive, Stayin Alive".

DL: Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive (Teddybears Remix)

Seiji is one of the hot sought after dj's right now, he produced tracks for Roisin Murphy's new album "Overpowered" & in this remix his work sound like James Holden's Raw, Semi-Minimal & Chopped electro house except holden usually uses 5% of the vocals (sometimes less).

DL: Britney Spears - Gimme More (Seiji Club Mix)

Even with it's electro twist & a chorus line in common with Hi-Tack's new single "Let's Dance" it's still not that special, but craig should thank the stars for "Touche" becaus he have blessed the single & transformed it into a one hell of an electro dance burner & it even has the "Touche" signature Kissy-Sell-Out-Like instrumental break + the vocals manipulation is catchy as hell.

DL: Craig David - Hot Stuff (Touche Mix)

I think Digitalism hacked into Calvin Harris's computer & stole this remix, labeled it with their name & sold it to Dave Gahan, check it for yourself and figure.

DL: Dave Gahan - kingdom (Digitalism Remix)

new remix off their new single "Someone Great" & you will only find it there because for some reason "Soulwax" dind't include it on their new "Remixes" album.. Probably they made it after? who knows.. who cares.. its brilliant. More of a Re-work than a remix actually & it has new extra female vocals? she's mumbling something in french.. if you know tell me.

DL: LCD Soundsystem - Get Innocuous (Soulwax Remix)

If you don't know who "The Teenagers" are then it's about time to move from under that rock. They slightly extended it, enhanced the beat & made it more electronic, period.

DL: New Young Pony Club - The Bomb (Teenagers Mix)

Swooshy, Glitchy, Stuttery, Grimey, Munchy as ususal.. i did 3 posts on "Kissy Sell Out" already & not in the mood to do another, just dl it.. you know it's good. We posted a radio rip of this remix previously, this time its a CD-Rip (incase you're wondering).

DL: Sugababes - About You Now (Kissy Sell Out Remix)

This remix might require you a few listens for it to grow on, it sounds like circus music near the end (which is the best part).

DL: Unklejam - Stereo (Lo-Fi Fnk Remix)

a song about terrorism remixed by 8-bit terrorists from the bonus disc that comes with the japanese edition of their latest album "A Weekend In the City".

DL: Bloc Party - Hunting For Witches (Crystal Castles Remix)

sorry if the short descriptions are not helpful but it's 9:00 am and i've been awake since yesterday morning and i'm surprised i even had the energy to write those on the go. Anyhow i'm off to bed, leave feedback & i'll read later.

One Full Year!
The Secret Handshake is a one man gang armed with a Wurlitzer piano & an Apple computer. Mingling handful of styles, channeling new order's softcore punk drummachine snaps, Hellogoodbye's voice processed choruses & star dusted synths, keane's energetic power ballad piano pieces, Neptunes's creamy urban burners, & daft punks faux guitar licks, forumalting what appears to be one of the (if not the only) feel-good records this year. But Dubuc’s easy on the ears Imogen-Heap-like glamorous vocals & cosmic lyrical content is what shines the brightest of all.

Tracklist:
01. Too Young
02. Summer of ‘98
03. Coastal Cities
04. Wanted You
05. Everyone Knows Everyone
06. Denton, TX
07. Midnight Movie
08. Game Girl
09. Pictures
10. Don’t Count on Me
11. I Lied About Everything
12. Make You Mine
13. Lately
14. Crosses Fingers

It's like swimming naked in a rainbow laser lit pool filled with your favourite flavour sparkling water under marshmellow raining cotton candy clouds, & tanning under a glimmering hot pink sun at midnight while reading a stash of pop culture magazines from the 90s.

"One Full Year" is a Punk, R&B, Electro, Synth, Pop, House, Dance, Indie, & New Wave cocktail. Yummm!

1/2 A Preset!
K.I.M. (Kimberly Isaac Moyes) is one half of the australian electronica 2 piece "The Presets", his 6 tracks solo album "System Breakdown" was only released in Japan months ago but it seems like it's going to get it's international release around this time of the year (probably with bonus tracks) including the singles "wet N Wild", "By The Time They Reach You" also known as "BTTTRY", & "Party Machini"!

"Wet N Wild" is kinda a slower version of the "MSTRKRFT" tune "Work On You".. & if you don't know who MSTRKRFT or The Presets are then i suggest you move from under that rock immediately. The single is backed with 2 remixes by "Riot In Belgium" & the beloved "Midnight Juggernauts".

DL: KIM - Wet N Wild

Kimberly is currently in the studio working on the second Presets album!
Soulwax - Most of the Remixes
Is Out, The cover says it all, Go buy it.

Holy Metronomy!
After a couple split-ups parting apart his bands "The Upsides" & "The Customers" english bloke Joseph Mount realised that it's about time to go solo & become Metronomy! Utilizing an outdated computer sold to him by his father he started crafting his own electronic compositions & it wasn't long before joseph became a much sought after remixer & was requested to remix for "Klaxons, Architecture in Helsinki, The Infadels, Magnet, Dead Disco, Roots Manuva, Franz Ferdinand, Temposhark, Sébastien Tellier, Klaxons, Box Codax, Max Sedgley, The Young Knives, Ladytron, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kate Nash, DNTEL, Good Shoes, Zero 7, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Hot Club De Paris, Box Codax, Gorillaz, & Britney Spears"!

Whilst currently working on music for the followup album to his 06 debut album "Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)", the new album is rumoured to be titled "Empire" (out early 2008), For now Metronomy releases "Radio Ladio", the 1st single which is a pretty perfect re-introduction to Metronomy’s frenetically brilliant hybrid style that's between being child-like pop and being something else. However, on their new single they have managed to keep the magnificent clatter to a minimum & it's just the right comeback recipe containing the secret "Metronomy" ingredients for a brainy tune including : Wet baby hands claps claps, quirky melody, jumpy bassline, squelching keys, swooshy synths, Jittery guitar strings & a cheerleading chorus spelling out her name R-A-D-I-O L-A-D-I-O that's guaranteed to fill a dancefloor with cheer with great ease.

The single contains 2 new tracks "Are Mums Mates" & the bleeping classic gameboy like "Hear To Wear" that will get your parents thiking there's a cellphone ringing everytime you play it .

Tracklist:
01. Radio Ladio
02. Are Mums mates
03. Hear To Wear

DL: Metronomy - Radio Ladio

R-A-D-I-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

She-Ra's Home!
Crystal Castles are famous for their wall to wall horizontal human stacks packed gigs, promotion-less acclaim to fame & blink of an eye fast fansbase building. Ever since the 1 boy 1 girl band launchd their myspace account the cluster of indie fans & blog owners initiated a greedy melodia hunt to quinch their thirst for their majestic 8-bit products, even if it meant unfinished demos or low quality MySpace stream rips. With a 12" as an official release & a demo compact disc handed to close friends & who they consider very important persons it crowns any official physical release as a holy item & a guaranteed to be a fast outspreading virus conquering the blogs foreheads.

Crystal Castles are releasing the first selftitled full-length album "Crystal Castles" internationaly on Feb 08, but for now their label "Last Gang Records" has unchained a selftitled promotional disc to give us a taste of what darkness lurks in the minds of these kids that refuse to be interviewed and won't show their eyes. The trio track cd contains "Untrust Us" a patriotic homesick pleed with "The Knife" like haunting vocals, the vandalism implying title "Crimewave" grooving with a disco beat & bathroom echoed vocals describing what seems to be human body parts, & "Alice Practice" a breakbeat-ish piece enriched with concentrated harsh bleeps & glazed with suffering vulgur girlie vocals.

Tracklist:
01. Untrust Us 3:06
02. Crimewave 4:20
03. Alice Practive 2:42

DL: Crystal Castles - Crystal Castls

If all the videogames music & ringtones in the world were composed by them then our planet would've been a much appropriate place to be.

Made In The Dark!
Hot Chip is a 5 piece english electro-pop band with 2 criticaly acclaimed albums & countless remixes under their belt, to name a few "Sia, Scissor Sisters, The Go! Team, Le Tigre, King Creosote, Ladyton, Architecture in Helsinki, Badly Drawn Boy, Amy Winehouse, Battles, Junior Boys, The Rumble Strips, Kraftwerk, Queens Of the Stone Age, Cansei De Ser Sexy, !!!, & Gorillaz". The band are currently mixing their third studio album, which is titled "Made in the Dark" out Feb 08.

1st single "Shake A Fist" is a fine form of squeaky synths & a laid back bass line playing sidekick to ominous urban jungle drums that takes the band's electro-soul in a moodier, sweatier direction & the vocals have a well defined power dynamic as well. The galloping rhythm stops in the midst of the track for a spoken interlude about a game called “Sounds of the Studio”, the momentary pause is soon continued with loud wrinkled laser screeches & shard clicks on a marble floor backed with primitive shouts assured to get your rave on.

DL:
Hot Chip - Shake A Fist

"Shake a Fist" is released on a limited 12" with a Diplo remix on the B-Side.

Ali Loves Disco!
Ali has formerly released 2 singles "K-Hole/Camera On A Pole" independentley back in 2006 but his first taste of limelight & fame came after he laid his vocals upon "The Chemical Brothers" 07 comeback single "Do It Again" for their album "We Are The Night" & with that kind of uncomplicated success ali is fearlessly prepared to release his first studio album "Love Music" in November 2007.

His first commercial single "Secret Sunday Lover" was released on "Columbia Records" July 16th & peaked at #22, Now three months later he's back with his second single "Late Night Session" that exhibits a more authentic take on seventies disco in our time where looking back is the new looking forward. "Late Night Session" is an irresistible slice of disco to be gloriously played down the skating circuits. It's got catchy lyrics, easy to move to beat & the whole cheesy retro feeling we seldom crave. But frankly there's really nothing special or new about it. Lyrically it's dull, could be mistaken for one of the records your parents once upon a time owned & the music reminiscences those Sclub7 songs we we're crazy about back in the 90's when pop was IT. It's obviously a song for the masses & will undoubtly be given the ritual daytime radio play it seems destined for. So make sure you dote on it now because it's soon to be a forgotten memeory.

DL: Ali Love - Late Night Session

The single contains remixes by (Phones, Supafly, Derick Mckenzie, & Ali Love Himself) plus bonus tracks including "F-Beat" a dirty electro jam which has a chorus borrowing from Pussycat Doll’s "Don’t Cha".

David Jordan!
New-sprung british singer & songwriter "David Jordan" is ready to release his debut album "Set The Mood" on the 5th of Nov. The album is produced by "Trevor Horn" who's responsible for classic albums of "The Pet Shop Boys" & "Belle & Sebastian" among others. The debut single "Place In My Heart" starts with a creamy reggae feeling & agile pop-soul backing that builds magnificently to a rocking crescendo with Justin Timberlake like vocals in the begining, Trent Darby in the middle & Will Young for the rest!

The single is backed up with a brilliant electro dance remix by "Stonebridge" that i can't stop listening to & preferre over the original song, plus a darker "Joey Negro" house remix.

Tracklist:
01. Place In My Heart (Original)
02. Place In My Heart (Stonebridge Club Mix)
03. Place In My Heart (Joey Negro Club Mix)

DL: David Jordan - Place In My Heart

I gotta admit.. if it wasn't for that stonebridge remix, i wouldn't really have payed attention or liked the original song.

Peace! Love! Ecstasy! Unity! Respect!
Muscles, is modular records' one-man party machine. His sound built around keyboards and korg synths that sounds like he has just hit randomize purposely on his sequencer and seen what has come out. "Guns Babes Lemonade" is packed full of extraordinary catchy dance/party anthems, explosive vocal harmonies, rigid techno, lo-fi house & soft trance synths. Each track has its own unique elements but cocooned within the characteristic dirty synthesizer & very 80s keys resulting in a delicious mess that just might start your party or put a sharp end to it.

"His messy irritating voice annoys the F%#K out of me" is a common line between first time listeners but you gotta know hes one of those artists you love or you hate! The album rampages with a set of the most annoying vocals i have heard in a long time. The Muscles sound is overblown and genuinely luscious – epic softsynth lead lines, infinitely strong FM bass, kickin’ doof & his hoarse, multi-tracked voice offering party politics, heartfelt shout outs & designs for a brighter future. There’s a carefree falsetto ‘WOOo!’ in practically every song and rave stabs throughout!

Tracklist:
01. Sweaty
02. Chocolate Lemon & Lime
03. Ice Cream
04. Jerk
05. One Inch Badge Pin
06. My Friend Richard
07. The Lake
08. Lauren From Glebe
09. Marshmallow
10. Futurekidz
11. Hey Muscles I Love You

DL: Muscles - Guns Babes Lemonade

It’s obvious Muscles gets a natural buzz from toying with his plug-ins, bettering his craft with every pitch-shift & beatmap. With a ‘huge’ moniker, huger aspirations & flexible software, there’s no reason why Muscles can’t get exactly what he wants. Obnoxious? YES, but already classic.

Favourite RemixERs of the Year Thus Far...

Crystal Castles
Canadian 8-bit terrorists Crystal Castles have become ubiquitous in all that's raw and relevant in new electro/noise synth/whatever. Chalk full of 80's analog goodness (their moniker coming from the 1986 Atari game of the same name), they are leaders in what has emerged as a staple breakdown in making every cool kid shake what their masters made them in true robot form... or just thrash around with Alice. All I have to do is see their name prop up around any music blog (really, almost *every* music blog, it seems), and know that I'm right-clicking a winner.

DL:
Leni (Crystal Castles remix)- Goodbooks
DL:
It Fit When I Was a Kid- Liars (Crystal Castles remix)

The Teenagers
French trio the Teenagers gained our general attention with charmingly dry, albeit slightly confusing and foreign original songs, but arguably they really come of age (pardon, pardon), in their remix work. Their remixes always have such a recognizable sound... the pulsing, melancholy downbeat, the unmistakable sense that something is being withheld and that you really want to know what it is. A couple of my favourites are posted, but get more if you get the chance.

DL:
Face (The Teenagers remix)- The Black Ghosts
DL:
It's the Beat (The Teenagers remix)- Simian Mobile Disco

Miami Horror
Aussie dj/producer, Ben Plant ... I just can't say enough about how talented this kid is. Ever since once again taking a chance on listening to something that was mentioned in the same paragraph as Midnight Juggernauts (one of my discerning signs in mpfree hunting), I can't stop slipping at one of the few songs that are drifting on the web onto every mix tape. Ultra dancable, 80's new wave, aussie fun-stylez. I've liked every remix better than the original. Listen for yourself.

DL:
Exiled! (We Don't Need No) (MIAMI HORROR remix)- Codebreaker
DL:
The Prayer (MIAMI HORROR remix)- Bloc Party

Digitalism
Having put out one of the best albums of the year, Digitalism has been busy. But somehow they find the time to remix a lot of songs... and remix them well. And I mean a lot. I rarely see any two sites with the same Digitalism remix (except in a few cases). This is all very well, because I can't often identify their sound on their remix work- it's so unexpected and spastic and everywhere and starting the original song backwards and frantically awesome. And then Jence just starts pounding away on that synth drum like "BAP BAP BAP BAP"... and we all go like "waaaaahhhh..".

DL:
Going Nowhere (Digitalism remix)- Cut Copy
DL:
Far From Home (Digitalism remix)- Tiga

feedback always appreesh!

Happy Pills!
Remixes are like pills.. some taste good & some don't but either ways they make us feel better.. So i decided to prescribe a cocktail of my favorite drugs every few weeks to help you against boredom & mondays! soo here's the first installment of many to come.. hope you like it!

DL: Calvin Harris - Merrymaking At My Place (Kissy Sell Out Remix)
probably kissy's next best remix after the All saints "Chick Fit" adventure, stuttery as usual and randomly stringy with loud gooey glitches allover just like he knows we like it!

DL: Dragonette - Take It Like A Man (Felix Cartel Remix)
If u don't know felix cartel, he creates dark techno like electronic dance music & it's always thumping hard and fully fuel driven machine-like loud, with its raging downtempo bass line & drilling buzzers this would perfectly fit as a dub on a vampire in space movie + you can negatively rave to it for 5 minutes.

DL: Just Jack - Starz In Their Eyes (Trophy Twins Remix)
It's like an improved version of the original song rather than a remix, more instruments, extended & has a smooth gluey woofered bass. It's more of a "House" than "dance" remix. Perfect for get togethers & lounging.

DL: Mark Ronson - Stop Me (ft. D. Merriweather) (A Chicken Lips Malfunction)
Chicken lips is the alias name for "Peter Rauhofer" where he tones down his electronic dance intensity to a softer pop dance & on this one it will strongly remind you of the style of "Prince Language" with the spongy bleepy tones that sounds like mr. squarepants phone dialtone.

DL: Mika - Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) (Tom Middleton Remix)
This one should be played on those enormous speakers down at the monster truck circuit.. it sounds like a group of cheerleaders with big boobs being crushed under a wood grinder with milk splashing allover the audience.

DL: Sunfreakz - Counting Down The Days (ft. Andrea Britton) (Henrik B Remix)
This gotta end up on your best dance remixes list.. it contains almost less than 2% of the original vocals & sounds completely like a different song... very uplifting and suitable for your iPod, your car, Gym or to beat up your ass to it at the clubs. Progressive.

DL: The Black Ghosts - Any Way You Choose To Give It (Boy-8-Bit Version)
I love TBG and i think they're going to be as good as The Rapture & New Young Pony Club.. already the single been playing on repeat non stop here & all the remixes accompanied with it are just wonderful but this one is plain brilliance.. it only makes sense that Boy-8-Bit is an alias name/side project for Crystal Castles coz it sounds like their work & just as good too! this is the old days classic gameboy version of the song! it just screams ATARi.

DL: The Presets - Down, Down, Down (Digitalism Remix)
Down, down, down is sleazy enough itself.. with wet faggy yells as vocals & a crawling reptile like beat.. to make things even more indie driven and stronger "Digitalism" who by the way released their amazing album "Idealism" has pulled the track into further muddier water.

DL: Yoko Ono - You're the One (Bimbo Jones Main Mix)
Gotta say i can only imagine yoko ono going under a sex change surgery to become a man who dresses in drag and dances to this remix at night behind closed doors, i personaly haven't heard the original song but this remix is munchy, catchy and the beat just flows through out of it. it's the kinda remix you can listen to under any mood. classic.

Band of Horses

Band of Horses' new album, Cease to Begin, follows their last year release Everything All the Time; a much lauded debut that was on many many critic's top ten lists of 2006. This kind of praise obviously comes with a load of pressure... the dreaded sophomore album. The first couple listens have been immensely enjoyable. They've really rolled with the country twang which they're so good at and which was only touched upon in Everything. Reflective, sweet, easy, and occasionally poignant. The perfect fall/winter transition album.

Brand New Cut Copy Song!
The new album is tantalisingly close to being finished and ready for the world early 2008. As a preview on how amazing it's sounding, take a listen to the song So Haunted.

Modular were going to just get you listen to it on a stream (I mean this album has been two years in the making) but what the hell, they decided to let you download it and spread the word. Cut Copy are back in damn big way.

Terry Poison!
Is a Girl Power fueled trio that pays attention to their image as much as their music making. As the true love child of samplers and guitar riffs, apocalyptic beats and angelic voices, ear candy and eye candy, Terry Poison are the soundtrack for your mad existence. The Tarrantino of pop. Stefani on Acid.

Highly provocative, sweaty and delicious, their music and live shows have been described as the mysterious offspring of some wild and druggy orgy, American sleaze and European finesse. Terry Poison have performed with dj's and bands such as Tiefschwarz & DJ Mira from Ladytron!

The EP "Buzz On The Bell" is backd up with 3 remixes by nu french touch rookies Don Rimini & the Justice-esque datA, and the London based Swedish/French duo RadioClit.

Off & Off & Offffffff!
Off & On was meant for the ex "MOLOKO" lead singer "Roisin Murphy" new album "Overpowered"! The track was co-written with "Cathy Dennis" & produced by "Calvin Harris" but they ended in dispute, she didnt like what he sounded like & she thought it wasn't her sound.
