Monsters & Not So Silly Songs!
Veering at all-points between some kind of pop-ish techno, boinging electro, early WARP-style tricky disco, and some leaden-footed indie-rocking, 30-ish Parisian Joakim Bouaziz's third album is anything but dull.

Sounding much like a more lo-fi version of the Gorillaz, Joakim flits around with the same genre hopping sense of glee on his latest album, MONSTERS & SILLY SONGS (love the artwork & the title btw). This is a record that is never content to repeat the same trick twice, a mish mash of styles and sounds, Joakim delivering a Technicolor explosion of sounds, ideas and styles at every available opportunity.

You may wonder how such massively incompatible styles could share the same record with any degree of harmony. And you won't be surprised to learn that they don't. Though its tempting to kick back and admire its range, Monsters & Silly Songs is custom-built for the download generation. All that's required is to ditch the rough, and dig for the diamonds.

Tracklist:
01. Monster #1
02. Sleep In Hollow Tree
03. I Wish You Were Gone
04. Three Legged Lantern
05. Monster #2
06. Lonely Hearts
07. Peter Pan Over The Bronx
08. Rocket Pearl
09. Drumtrax
10. Everything Bright & Still
11. Monster #3
12. Palo Alto
13. The Devil With No Tail
14. Monster #4
15. Love-Me-2
16. Tanabata

this is an indie guitar driven album, with the classical leanings of a film score – it’s brilliant but don’t go playing the whole thing at the afterparty of a techno rave-up or people might go seriously under.

Britney's Back!
Its been 3 long years since Britney's Greatest Hits album was released in 2004, and after getting married, having two children, and checking in and out of rehab, Britney is finally making a comeback. Countless rumours have circulated over how Britney will burst back onto the music scene, and several demo tracks have popped up on the internet, but none have been as infectious as this one.
Gimme More is nothing amazing, and its not the BIG, exciting Britney comeback single I would have liked, but its better than nothing. The track is produced by Timbaland protégé Nate ‘’Danjahandz'’ Hills (Justin Timberlake, T.I.), and all signs point to Gimme More being the first single released from Britney's long awaited new album. I really hope so!

Spastic Electro Pop Rock!
This album has been long in the making and just like The Modern this band signed with a major label who didn't know how to handle the band properly. Alas, they got dropped and resurface under (in this case slightly) new name. Enriched with melodies, synth, Digitally-recorded-perfect-live-like-rock & whiney vocals that the lead man here has in common with the lead man from the killers backed up with echoed female repeats...& beats yeah let's not forget beats.

Tracklist:
01. Vandals
02. Short Sharp Shock
03. Surrender
04. (In Your Own Words) Chernobyl
05. Freeze
06. Market Street (Everything Is Changing)
07. Lost Youth
08. Live A Little
09. Rome
10. Sex Etc.
11. Dotted Line
12. The Ending

DL: (We Are) Performance - (We Are) Performance (Limited Edition)

*It's like the killers & clear static merged into one band.

Couples Therapy!
Dominique Keegan & Glen Brady are The Glass. They make Dirty Hard hitters & Beautiful music too. They like Rock, Rave, Electro, Dancefloors, Fit Birds, Alcohol, Music that isn't trendy and their friends! Fun? .........Oh yeah! Their 1st CD release “COUPLES THERAPY EP” is out now & It’s umm... Balances the terms "fast n Jumpy" equally with "Slow n depressing" in a Mildly Dark & Melancholic way, you can call it Moody music if you like! But it's still Danceable for sure. Built by Electronic basics, garnished with Fag-ish & Semi-Soft vocals without being loud or squirmy.. plus the scent of bass & guitar presence validates them under the “Indie” class & I assure you it’s not melody free.

Tracklist:
01. Mad At You
02. Green Leaves
03. Fourteen Again
04. Come Alive
05. Try Some More
06. I Wonder
07. 4 Bytes

The Glass has produced & remixed for “« rinôçérôse », Shitake Monkey, Photo Atlas, Robbers on High Street, Clone Quartet, Les Clones, Telepopmusik (ft. Asia Argento), Secret Frequency Crew, Just Jack, 120 Days for Vice Records, 20/20 Soundsystem” You'e gonna like them alot if you like « rinôçérôse ».

*IS it just me or does the artwork remind you of the new “Interpol” album cover (in a way)?

Clothes Off!
I'm not really a big fan of Lil' Chris and the punk/emo/rock genre he represents but I like this song. The song is catchy as hell, I personally like the NANANANA-NANANA-NANA! bit of the song, and the video is a hoot too!
This song was originally a hit for Jermaine Stewart (R.I.P.) and from what I've gathered this song has been covered (or sampled) like, a few million times (joke!), most recently by Clea and The Gym Class Heroes. I leave you here with the dancey electro-poppy version of the song (in hopes that you will buy the actual single!):

04. You Have Been Loved
05. The Girl You Lost to Cocaine
06. Academia
07. I Go To Sleep

A couple of months ago Sia released a "Live" cd which featured two songs from this new album. also a video of 'Buttons' was leaked online recently. "Some People Have Real Problems" was set for a release on September but now got pushed back to January 2008. and now surprisingly we got this very early leak of the album. "Day Too Soon" will be the official first single. Another amazing album from Sia, it's kinda more into the 'Healing Is Difficult' direction than how mellow "Colour The Small One" was though.

The return of Girls Aloud/Sugababes
Its that time of year again! The two biggest girl groups in the UK (and perhaps the world) are back! After huge success with their recent Greatest Hits albums (well Girls Aloud anyway) and a collaboration (Run DMC/Aerosmith classic Walk This Way) Sugababes are getting ready to release their 5th studio album (the first full length with newest member Amelle), and Girls Aloud their 4th.

The new Girls Aloud single Sexy! No No No... is released for download on Monday, and it will be in the shops on the 3rd of September. The song carries the girls' new style through to their new album, being an extremely loud, fast and hectic ride through Girls Aloud world, showcasing all 5 of the girls' voices.

DL:Sexy! No No No... (Radio Edit)

The 20th Sugababes single About You Now, produced by Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Lady Sovereign, Kelis) is a bit of a change for the girls, very poppy and upbeat, as opposed to the different, experimental pop/rnb genre they usually go for. Nevertheless, About You Now is a great track, one of my favourites from the Babes.

Teenage Bad Girl!
Trying to find info on this DJ/'s is in the vein of banging your head against the wall.. Futile & results in a headache.. A MySpace with hardly any bio, no official site & their label domain is not in use! Anyhow from what i gather by translating some dutch & french is that most of the people who listened to or reviewed "Cocotte" all consent that “TBG” generally sound like "Daft Punk" & then at many checkpoints "MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Soulwax & Mr. Oizo". Teenage Bad Girl is already a sought after remixer & has fucked with recent singles by "Scissor Sisters, Boys Noize, Felix Da Housecat & Goose"!

What i like the most about “COCOTTE” is that all tracks were well thought of in the production process because it's not one of those albums that sounds like a one stretched monotone song... you will be able to tell the difference between the tracks form the initial play & it ends with a great semi-ballad that’s instantaneously to become one of your favorite off the record.

It's New, Loud, Vocoded, Very Electric & as good as some of the been-around-for-along-time artists!

Kinda chessy Name

Belanova is back in the pop mexican scene, after their succesful "Dulce Beat", and i must say that their new single is kinda 'meh', not what i was expecting, more poppy' and silly lyrics, but still having some electronic feeling that reminds me a little bit of annie's or sally's shapiro songs (or not really, im confused).

Im deff, be buyin' this on September 10th,
when arrives to stores, but i reallly hope that the other 10 tracks are lot better than "Baila Mi Corazón", and i'm sure they will, thank you.

Many of you might know about the existence of this swedish duo: Lo-fi-Fnk, that released Boylife back in 2006, well, readin' their myspace wall, hehe just get to know that just before they were going on tour some "druggey guy"as they said, stole their computeeer!, :S.

Besides bad things, they have been releasing good mixes for other artists like le tigre, GirlKillsBear, The Alphine, and some others. Well here i leave a remix, kinda old but still good, made by The Teenagers, what a great combination.

Video To "Want" The 2nd Single!

Watch "Make Me Money" 1st Single Video
Here.

Producer/Songwriter/Remixer!
So Jacknife Lee decides to put together a secret band with LCD Soundsystem, Bodyrockers, Radiohead & The Infadels. He sets the studio & asks them to bring their music equipments to a dark moldy abandoned meat storage in an industrial area in the middle of the desert. So they all did for the first rehearsal & gathered there… few minutes later he arrives, Accidently closes the giant steel door & it locked everyone in for good! Unfortunately there was a rare kind of bacteria infesting in the walls that grows on anything generating heat & once you inhale it you’re body starts to rot & you only have couple hours before turning fully green inside out & die.. Now they all knew it’s their last hours & since they have all the equipments needed… why not make the record!? But since they only have couple hours left there’s no time to really think about the music & show off their super music skills or make the best record ever… Sooo they all agree to just craft something uncomplicated, indie & amusing.. Nothing over produced or supposed-to-be-a-big-hit material… just play music for fun, & they did! Record was done, everyone devastated over their last minutes! All laying on the floor thinking about their short lives... & out of nowhere Jacknife Lee pulls a golden magnum out of his crotch & shoots everyone between the eyes, slashes the big bass drum and takes a wrench out of it, starts removing all the air brush sprayers from the corners & the green paint cases, budges the lock open with it, buries the bodies & music equipments in one hole, Shoved their vehicles off a cliff, went home, took a shower & updated his Myspace blog with: “Hey guys work on my 4th LP is Done!”

Few months later came the first single “Making Me Money” then the 2nd single "Want" & Selftitled "Jacknife Lee" album to be released in sometimes soon (UK Only For Now)!

Midnight Juggernauts!
Although ‘Dystopia’ wears its influences proudly on its mirror ball colored sleeve, it is still a great sounding beast in its own right. It is track after track of insanely catchy songwriting, irresistible sounding bass and punchy drums littered with dreamy electronic synths sounds and hook-laden vocals, some of which would not be out of place in an 80’s skating rink, still it’s not a 100% jump, rave & dance record! The Juggernauts cleverly give you a chance to catch your breath with the darkly hypnotic Worlds Converged, featuring choir-style harmonies and Dave Gahan low growl. An ambient and cinematic speed hump comes with the acoustically anchored title track “Dystopia”, which is flavored with a generous dash of French Noir. It’s like “We like Air a lot so we flogged this song from their laptop while they were off buying croissants and made it ours”!

Tracklist:
01. Intro
02. Ending Of An Era
03. Into The Galaxy
04. Shadows

DL: Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia

*It’s the perfect marriage of Air and Daft Punk, fronted by Bowie. Their antithetical Utopia is set in another galaxy, but instead of the generally "negative and undesirable societies” usually described as a dystopia, the feel good nature of these songs makes it one hell of a happy place to be.

"Back in Time"
is the new single from Swedish popstar Linda Sundblad (formerly from the band Lambretta) according to her official myspace. It's a nice song with a summery vibe, but I feel like the lyrics could've been so much better especially at the verses. Is it just me or does she sound a lot like Robyn (vocally)?

Dragonette - Take It Like A Man (Kissy Sell Out's Horror Sequel)
Groove Armada - Song 4 Mutya (Kissy Sell Out Version)

...there's no doubt that "Kissy Sell Out" is one of the most wanted Dj's these days, specialy in the Indie Scene & it's just the right time for kissy to release his first record!

Kissy From An Interview: "I’m a 22 year old cheeky Essex boy with a girly name, a mullet and a strange obsession with the early films of Keanu Reeves and any music ever written by Swans. I'm also an art school outcast and all I wanna do is party like Bill & Ted which has made me a bit eccentric! I'm now sitting on my debut album (20% of which was written back when I was a troubled teenager) & I'm rereleasing my first single called "Her" (which is a gothic electro tune full of dripping noises about how disillusioned I had become with the commercial art scene)!"

DL: Kissy Sell Out - Her

*kissy used every style he created through his remixing journey & combined them into "HER" Majesty.

Bleepy, Noisy, choppy Goodness!
So you ask.. what makes the new tri-track "Whatshewants E.P." so good?! "It's all quite a mash-up of stuff" he says (Alex Metric)!

To make it clear for you.. Alex takes bits and pieces from his favourite artists who he's infuluenced by and then dumps all into the blender to produce a fresh sound not from concentrate.

DL: Alex Metric - Whatshewants
"cheeky power squelching dancefloor stormer whose chunky hooks bring rude rock intensity to electronic club thump!"

DL: ALex Metric - Breakin Hearts
"Seduces with chunky guitar glitch given the trademark Metric acid wash."

DL: ALex Metric - Oh
"Percolates with ironic electro-pop synths and brash hip-hop attitude!"

...So while listening to these tracks keep in mind his list of influences & if you have a good ear you will be able to tell who each piece or style's from!

"List Of Influences" from his Official MySpace:
"Daft Punk, Jaques Le Cont, Zoot Woman, Les Rhythm Digitales, Justice, Basement Jaxx, Underworld, New Order, Richard Ascroft, Sebastian, Spirituaized, Phoenix, Chemical Brothers, PMT, Unkle, Jamie Lidell, Merz, Weevil Nine, Adam Freeland, Playgroup, Surkin, Gus Gus, Primal Scream, the 80's , James Holden, Digitalism, Huey Lewis, Para One, Erol Alkan, Old Greg and guns4jesus"

* looks like he typed the names of these artists himself coz alot of them have typos (i marked them in white) LOL!

This band of teens may not be everybody's cup of tea, but after exploding onto the music scene in both Australia and the UK they seem to be getting through to a few people. *Brilliant Video!

The Capital "G"!
IS the second single from "Year Zero" & for god knows what reasons they haven't commercialy released any remixes of it.. maybe because they are releasing "Year Zero" sometimes soon!? Anyhow here are 2 official remixes in their full glory!

DL:
Nine Inch Nails - Capital G. (Switch Remix)
DL: Nine Inch Nails - Capital G. (Phones 666 RPM Mix By Paul Epworth)

Trent Reznor said that the "G" stands for "Greed," though numerous reviews of the album assume it is about George W. Bush. However, Year Zero's storyline is set 15 years in the future, when Bush will no longer be president.

WIHOHLOHVJUHSTIHS!
What used to be a distorted, corrupted, glitchy & as noisy as radio static on full volume illegaly downloaded off p2p mp3 like sound has turned into brilliant music thanks to "JUSTICE" who (& I say it mouthful) have created the best electronica album of the year & made my life better ever since "Waters Of nazareth" EP was released! Anyhow "Let There Be Light" was remixed by "Breakbot" & it appeared on Ed Banger's "Waters Of Nazareth" Japanese Only 12"/Disc....

DL:
Justice - Let There Be Light (Breakbot Remix)

...that remix was good enough to keep an eye open for any Breakbot future releases! Then came the debut double A side single "Summer Party/Happy Rabbit"! I'll make no bones about it... Breakbot crafts party tunes. Big ones, melting together all the best elements of dance, electro and hip-hop with skill, precision & a laptop cooking up choice cut electronic music, experimenting with beats, layers, keyboards, vocals, and Daft Punk-esque get-yo-funk-on basslines. Following in the footsteps of French electro duo "JUSTICE" explains the traces of Justicism in both tunes...

DL:
Breakbot - Happy Rabbit
DL: Breakbot - Summer Party

...Meanwhile parisian "Data" were putting the final touches on their new EP "Aerius Light" & guess whose style they fully copied??! Yep, JUSTICE... They are trying to pull off a Justice but in a more synthical way... More G rated if I may say. The result is Justice like music in a form of Polyphonic Ringtones or maybe Midi files! It doesn’t stop there.. Data recruited Breakbot to remix the lead song form the EP as well & it sounds different from the original!

DL:
Data - Aerius Light
DL: Data - Aerius Light (Breakbot Remix)

Not very off-topic "Boys Noize" & don’t be fooled by the pluralBOYS.” Alexander Ridha, is just one man who "Daft Punk" have sent him their love via Myspace & has remixed for "Depeche Mode, Feist, Kreeps, Bloc Party, Para One, Shiny Toy Guns, I-Robot, Tiga, Teenage Bad Girl & Kaiser Chiefs" is releasing his debut album titled "Oi Oi Oi" by the end of september with the first single "Don't Believe The Hype"! Now beside the reason that he's himself a "Justice" fan, I’m including him in this post because the switch point at "01:02" on his other new track "& Down" sounds like the one on Justice's "Waters Of Nazareth" at "02:50" lol!

DL:
Boys Noize - And Down

Ohh & Yeah... That's It.

Cut copy Pastes a Tune!
"Hearts on Fire" the first cut from Cut Copy's untitled second album, is a great piece of 80s synth pop, filled with elastic keyboards, chunky bass lines, and a smooth sax-with-sunglasses blows with a pop cliché uhh-ohhs. Perfect summer tune, i promise if you weren't moving your shoulders you will at least nod your head to this!

DL: Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire

Cut Copy's style is very similar to "Mylo" specially their previous 2004 brilliant album "Bright Like Neon Love" which till this day is remains pretty much hot.

Ali Lover!!
Fresh from his appearance on the new Chemical Brothers single "Do It Again" & Inspired by dance, romance, and ending too many lost weekends at his friends’ cult London underground club Secret Sundaze, Ali Love returns to the dancefloor he loves with this disco glitter bomb of forbidden love.

DL: Ali Love - Secret Sunday Lover

Mr Love's solo single is much more poppy than his Chemicals collaboration, mining the same vein of poppy funk that's served Calvin Harris so well with an addictive chorus that you can imagine being belted out in every nightclub across the land on Saturday nights.

Girls Just Wanna Dance with Somebody
Although mash-ups are so 2002 (or 2003), I can’t help but love this track. It’s not seamless, but the cuts and the skips adds to the charm of it. DJ Earlybird fuses Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and comes up with this fun, nostalgic, bastard pop masterpiece. Mash-ups are not everyone’s cup of tea but if you like this sorta thing then you will probably enjoy this!

Lucy Walsh is so uncool!
The verdict is still too early to say if I like Lucy Walsh or not but she has definitely caught my attention with “So Uncool”. I never really cared about the song at first but for some strange reason it is now stuck in my head! It kinda sounds like “Hollaback Girl” meets Lil’ Jon but in a good way... Am I making any sense?

DL: So Uncool

Anyways, she has another cool song on her myspace called “Crash” you should check it out.

Chungking! Yipee!
Chungking is a UK-based band comprised of Sean Hennessey and Jessie Banks. Before they went electro/pop/rock they were making sublime, landscapic chill-out music (which sounded quite good eventhough I only heard 30 second snippets!).

Some facts that I found about Chungking:
  • Sean and Jessie used to date
  • Most of the tracks on their new cd were recorded in a room above a pub in the UK!
  • Richard X (Sugababes, M.I.A., Rachel Stevens) produced some of the tracks in their new cd.
  • Their new cd "Stay Up Forever" is out now!
If you like Dragonette or Goldfrapp you'll probably like Chungking!

Super Furry Animals Have Hands Fetish!
Having been a fixture on the festival and release circuit for a number of years now, The Super Furry Animals are finaly backs and releasing a lovely tune for an appreciative indie audience With their first single 'Show Your Hand' form the just released album "Hey Venus!".

The song's a touch folky, incredibly light on the aural senses but not squirmily fluffy or vacuous in any way, with a nice line in jingling Guitar melodies, keyboards and synth that combine nicely with the pumping drumming coming from the talented Dafydd Ieuan. The lovely Beatles-esque harmonies that lead singer Gruff Rhys and co. have put together work absolutely beautifully on the song, and there's nothing to crtiicise!

DL: Super Furry Animals - Show Your Hand

Useless Info but i have a T-shirt from "UNIQLO" that has artwork by teh same artist who created this single cover.. i'll take a pic later lol!

Sutta Wanted For Dance!
"Dave Aude" who remixed for "Danity Kane, Hilary Duff, Jupiter Rising, Britney Spears, Nelly Furtado, Gorillaz, Kelly Clarkson, Enrique Iglesias, Lindsay Lohan, The Pussycat Dolls, t.A.T.u" among others.. Is releasing his own single titled "Make It Last" & it features "Jessica Sutta" (From "The Pussycat Dolls")!

DL : Dave Aude - Make It Last (ft. Jessica Sutta) (Radio Edit)

Jessica is also featured on the recent hot pop-dance track "White Lies" by DJ "Paul Van Dyk"!

DL: Paul Van Dyk - White Lies (ft. Jessica Sutta) (Radio Edit)

Both of them are amazing, "Make It Last" is 'Munchy, Sleazy & Dark' when "White Lies" is 'Pop-y, Jumpy & Soft'.

I hope she collaborates with more dance artists in the future because telling from these 2 it's obviously working.

I Luv Thee!
I don't know much about this "Patrick Alavi" guy (I Guess He’s French!?) but it doesn’t matter because I’m already in love with him! It all started with his Click-Clack-a-Smash-a-Shout electro remix of the short-life-burnerBeware Of The Dog” by "Jamelia" that instantly became one of my all time favorite remixes!

Then later this year came his new double side promo single "Power & Glory"! Well “Glory” isn’t that much of a hype maker but "Power" is a Shining Gem & you’re first reaction will be “Gosh this is such an un-intentional Daft Punk (Around the World Era) Tribute” whether Alavi agrees or not!

DL: Patrick Alavi - Power

New NewYoung Pony Club Song!
New Young Pony Club have penned a new song for Tate Modern's Tate Tracks series. Their track, 'Really Literal', is the last in the series which has included Graham Coxon, Klaxons and The Long Blondes. The song was inspired by Martin Creed's piece, 'Neon Sign'. The song will be available to listen to on Tatetracks.org.uk and at a listening post in front of the artwork from September 13 until the end of December.

*IF you don't know what tate modern track sis.. well it's an art gallery & they bring indie artists to look at the art and then choose one of the pieces to be inspired by and write a song based on that!!
